got off the phone with my dr, and if this cycle 3 of clomid is unsucessful he said to make appt for die shot through tubes. what is this called? also what is involved in this, and what do they look for?

If it is the test I think it is it is called ... an HSG or histosalpingogram..spelling?  So what they do it thread a cathiter up into the uterus then plug it with a tiny balloon then slowly inject die and take shots on an xray machine to make sure your tubes are open and clear.  They say that after you have this your chances of getting prego go up..  I got prego the cycle after...but i did iui and my tubes were fine.  It doesnt hurt too bad...  just take some tylenol before hand.  feels like cramping.  hth

I also had it done, exactly as described by pp. I had an IUD and was having a heck of a time conceiving, so they thought my tubes were possibly blocked. Ended up the die went through fine, possibly a small enough block that the die pushed it open! I was told the cramping can be horrible, and they told me to take two Advil before the procedure. I was fine, craping was totally minimal. I also conceived the next cycle (was also on Clomid as my overies are lazy!), but lost the baby as a blighted ovum.  No know relation to the test OR Clomid....just one of those things.

ps - the die is actually colourless...looks like water!

thanks girls. now i need to call insurance,and see if they will deney coverage. i hate my insurance. they will probally say it is for infertility reasons. even though, i have had horrible periods, and lots of clotting for months now.

They denied me...  But I hope yours is different.. I paid 400 for mine but I think it was worth it.  I wanted to know!
