(Thanks to everyone who provided their Baby Gender Mentor results and birth outcome for this informal poll.  I am no longer updating the list below, as it has become clear that Baby Gender Mentor is very inaccurate.)

Hi Maureen,

This is a great idea.  I like all of the questions you have listed.  You can delete the one I started asking for just amnio/cvs results!

Thank you!

Anything else? when I spoke to acu-gen after my 3rd u/s they said if the sex of the baby is different  at birth then the test results to send in the birth cetrificate for a refund. I asked about only sending a copy (cause I don't want them to have the real thing) and they said that would be fine but if there was any discrepency they might send me a special paper that I would have the baby touch and then send back to them. I'm not sure what all that was about but I also asked about sending them hospital papers with proof of the baby's sex because it takes like 3 months to get a birth certificate (atleast in CA). They said that those papers would probably be sufficient for a refund. They asked me for my name at the end of the phone call, and that was it. I really hope they're not out of business or something come January!

(sorry so long but I just wanted to share what they said to me on case any one heard anything different)

Date you did BGM: 1st- 8/8/05  2nd- 9/8/05 (rerun)
Weeks of pg (gestation) on this date: 20 weeks and 24 weeks (1st gender u/s unsure so I did test)
Baby's due date: 12/31/05
BGM Result: 1st- girl  2nd- boy
U/S Result:    (What week of pg was your u/s? 2D/3D/4D?) I have had 8 u/s- 6 say boy (1st two done at 7 and 10 weeks) all 2D. The definitive u/s done at 21 weeks
CVS/Amnio Result: n/a
Baby's gender at birth: boy- born 1/11/06

Did you follow the instructions exactly for collecting the blood sample for BGM? yes

Did you get pg using IVF or other fertility treatment? no
Were you taking fertility drugs when you got pg? no

If this is not your 1st pg, how long ago was your last pg? this is my 1st
(Time between the END of last pg and BEGINNING of this pg.)

Age and genders of previous children?

Anything else? Contacted AcuGen about conflicting results- they gladly reran my test at no charge. I thought I would still get same results, but when I looked at the screen the result said boy. I asked them how they could have changed- they told me the "vanishing twin" story. Basically, the female DNA diluted the sample and the male DNA was not detected. Only after the female "vanished" could they detect the male DNA. My early u/s showed no signs of twins- 7week u/s only 1 fetus and 10 week u/s only 1 fetus. Every u/s I have had has only shown 1 little baby.

UPDATE: Contacted AcuGen about refund because of change in results on Oct 19- they sent refund for $550 on Oct 31. I am now 32 weeks.

Date you did BGM:  I think 6/26/05. I'd need to look at my records to confirm.
Weeks of pg (gestation) on this date: 9 weeks
Baby's due date: January 27, 2006
BGM Result: Boy
U/S Result:    (What week of pg was your u/s? 2D/3D/4D?) 2D 18 week and 22 week ultrasounds showed a healthy girl
CVS/Amnio Result: Amnio determined a girl
Baby's gender at birth: n/a

Did you follow the instructions exactly for collecting the blood sample for BGM? Yes, I even used a new pen that my husband never touched. I made him leave the room. Cleaned the area I tested on.

Did you get pg using IVF or other fertility treatment? No

Were you taking fertility drugs when you got pg? No

If this is not your 1st pg, how long ago was your last pg? My son was 8 months when I got pregnant.
(Time between the END of last pg and BEGINNING of this pg.)

Age and genders of previous children? Boy, now 14 months

Anything else? I had an ultrasound before taking the BGM at 8 weeks.  My doctor will back me up that there was no vanishing twin. Also, studies have shown that as soon as you have the baby, the DNA vanishes from your body. So, previous pregnancies shouldn't interfere with the results. I've spoken to a couple of physicians about this and they stated that the technology has not been perfected to determine gender from the mother's blood.  I would think that the test would have made the medical journals by now if it were legitimate.
