    Re: Trying for a boy

We spent £4000 at The Birmingham Gender Clinic in our quest for a boy. We underwent their procedure for spermsorting using the method developed by Ronald Ericsson. It was the biggest scam I have ever had the misfortune of coming into contact with. The service was full of reassurance in the £100 consultation. We ended up with our third girl. Of course, she is beautiful and we love her very much but even 2 years later I am full of anger and bitterness towards the clinic and its lying staff. My advice is to steer well clear - if you really need a baby of your chosen gender put heart and soul into it and pay for PGD. Hope this helps

Well I'm in the 2 week waiting period and can only tell you about the Spokane, Wa clinic.  They were great, very professional and infomative.  I'm a person who asks tons of questions and he anwsered every single one with confidence.  I don't know if it worked but I went there because I've been e-mailing a lady who used them and she got her boy after 3 girls, and she knew someone who got her 4th boy(wanted a girl)  and if you look at most of the stats on the survey it supports alot of boys.  Maybe it is just this clinic but I got a good feeling from them and knowing 2 other  people who used them boosted my confidence.  Hope that helps.

I just want to note that Birminghaim clinic is extremely expensive.  E cost should be (according to Dr. E ) between $600 and 1200.  I also heard tha this specific clinic is claiming 90% success rate.  Dr. E does not support their claims (overestimeted rate).

The reasons we are going to do Ericsson are 1) It favors boys and 2) They inseminate you with the healthiest sperm in the sample and after my dh gets a V-reversal and after my m/c I want the healthiest sperm b/c I want to stay pg even if we end up with a 4th DD.  Maybe we'll get a DS...who knows but it's worth a try.  Also, there's no way I'd do a 3rd IVF/PGD cycle....that, to me, was a total waste of tens of thousands of dollars.  I think with every method, there are some who get success and others who don't but some people, like us, need to try all the options to find out which one will work best for us....one of them has toHappy Smile
