    natural labour after induction labour?

    Hi girls,

Just wondering for those who have had more than one birth and was induced, how many went on to have other babies without induction?

I was induced with both of my girls but I feel like this time that I might go into labour all by myself and closer to my due date.  That is my feeling but my Dr said it is more likely that I will go over again and need induction.

In my mind I'm thinking that I will go earlier as I feel pressure alot more in the downstairs region and I have the sharp spilting pain in my cervix, which I know is just ligaments stretching etc but just have a feeling.

Anyone go naturally after and induction birth?

Re: natural labour after induction labour?

I was overdue and induced with both of my pregnancies. The second time I swore black and blue that I was going to go early. He was in position, head engaged from 20 wks onwards..but once again, cervix hadn't dilated and i went past my due date. I think I would probably go overdue again next time - I think I am just one of those people with longer gestation period.

Goodluck this time for you!! Hope you do go naturally!!

You know, I probably will go over as well.  I mean in all likely I think I too have a longer gestation period.   I know the exact date that I have concieved with all my babies and I still manage to go 10 - 12 days over.

Although I don't really like the induction process, I do like the fact that I am prepared and know what to expect.

    Thanks for replying.

I was exactly the same. I knew exactly when I conceived both times and yes, 11 days over with DS#1 and 7 days over with DS#2 (would have been more but managed to get them to induce me )...however I have heard over and over again that a normal gestation period is anywhere between 38wks and 42wks although its not what I want to hear because I'm so impatient and by 40wks I'm ready to see my baby!!!

I also don't really like being induced due to the fact that it go's from 0-nothing within minutes (in my case anyway), there is no build up of contractions just WHAM! But on a good note, I agree that being prepared for it rather than thinking u'r water might pop in the shops or something is a lot better IMO, and generally makes labour go faster too so thats also an added bonus!

Sorry you didn't get more replies!! I have been checking in to see what other people had to say!! Goodluck with it!!! It

My friend has just had her third baby.  She was 12 and 11 days late for DC 1 and 2 and had to be induced.  This one came 4 days after DD and with only sex 24hours prev as her 'induction'!!

Good Luck with the labour however it starts though XX

Every baby is different, I was induced with the 2 boys (40 +, 39 weeks), the last pregnancy labor came naturally at 39 weeks.

Re: natural labour after induction labour?

I was hoping you would have more responses.  I have gone overdue and been induced with all 3 of mine.  With DD3 the doctor was very hopeful for me, but by the time I hit 40 weeks he pretty much just gave up on me and said "I don't think you go into labor on your own, let's plan an induction."  By induction day I had managed to dialate to a 3, which is great for me.  Since normally once I get passed 4, I deliver within 30 minutes.  I'm convinced now if she had been turned into position (and hadn't been sideways) I would've gone.  I'm just grateful the induction works for me, since neither my mom or sister were able to dialate enough to not need a c/s.  Are you willing to go as long as possible to avoid an induction, even if you go to 42 weeks?  I had hopes myself of just letting myself go until natural labor occured with this one, but now I'm thinking it would be nice to have this baby while DH and DD1 are still on winter break.  It's a hard choice.  But I'm not even sure my doctor would induce me before 40 weeks anyways.  If he won't and I can't naturally induce before January 4th, then I'm gonna wait it out and pray I go on my own and not when DH is at work and DD1 is at school.  Good luck!
