For potassium I was on the very STRICT diet (as outlined and noted in Red's cookbook). My daily values were around 4,500-5,000 mg through the diet alone.

I charted my daily food intake online so I could make sure I was within the daily values for K, ca, Mg and Na.

I also supplemented with a nutritional yeast flake drink, and 2x per day a teaspoon of COT in water. In addition I took 2 or 3 capsules of 99 mg potassium citrate.

    Revedebleu:

For potassium I was on the very STRICT diet (as outlined and noted in Red's cookbook). My daily values were around 4,500-5,000 mg through the diet alone.

My problem is I dont eat (can't eat) beef and pork.  I eat lamb, chicken and fish, which does not give me enough potassium. Most of the recipe's included in Redcin's cook book are not for me. I am finding difficult to increase potaasium through food.

I charted my daily food intake online so I could make sure I was within the daily values for K, ca, Mg and Na.

I am charting mine too. Mostly in the range of 1500-3000 mg

I also supplemented with a nutritional yeast flake drink, and 2x per day a teaspoon of COT in water. In addition I took 2 or 3 capsules of 99 mg potassium citrate.

Were u on all the drinks  from AF to O or full cycle? I am using 99mg Chelated potassium which has potassium gluconate.

Was ur DH on the same menu?

    Re: Update....I had my 16 week u/s. It's a....

I had not eaten beef for over 12 years!!! I decided to start eating it for the boy diet! Who knows if it helped and I do not eat it anymore now that I am pregnant. I would have NEVER thought I would do that to get my boy but I wanted to do everything I could. I ate beef about 2-3 times a week. It can also be acidic but it didn't have this effect on me. DH also had been red meat-free for lots of years and started eating it for me. Prepared with lots of salty bouillion cubes! YUCK! I forced myself to eat many things for the boy diet including artichokes which I HATE!!! Btw, THOSE ARE AWESOME IN K!!!!! Also I ate sardines and anchovies a lot. I detest these things. I only did the NYF and COT for the cycle that I conceived and I started right after AF. If you can not handle red meat then try to stay at 3000 the best you can and take NYF, COT and your K supps! Good luck! Rev

    Re: Update....I had my 16 week u/s. It's a....

Honestly, if it were cheaper I'd say DEFIATELY get it...but the cost is pretty HIGH and in my experience all it really did for me was confirm ovulation (ie give me peace of mind about my attempt). It really helped me narrow down my attempt time in the months leading up to our actual attempt. It is by no means necessary though, but if money is no object then go for it! What I did was check for my LH surge with OPK sticks every 3-4 hours...usually this corresponded with my vaginal  low time on the sensor. I had the Ovacue and I did not use it "traditionally" I used it more like a cue II user could (ie interpreting results myself.) After a few months I would know what a low and high number was for me. So basically for my attempt I got my LH surge (vaginal low time) and then waited 22 hours past my first pos OPK. I still had a vaginal low number at attempt time but knew it would shortly rise based on past experienece. So anyway, we bd'd 22 hours past first +OPK... and ovulation was confirmed by a STEEP rise in my sensor (from a low of like 70 something into the 300's about 8-10 hours later). It gave me my Ovulation confirmed message and I knew I bd'd 8-10 hours pre-O. It was nice to know for sure but like I said it is NOT necessary, just one more tool in the ttc toolbox (temps, OPK's, CM checking, Cervical height checks and the ovacue)...So in a nutshell it is nice if you have it, but not necessary. If I were ttc a girl it would be INVALUABLE though becasue I would bd once I got my steep vaginal rise and the O confimed message. It would be PERFECT for calculating an 0+12.

    Hey Eks_pat

I totally st missed the NYF post. SORRY! I just checked mine and for me 1 serving is 16 grams (which is 2 heaping TBSP). The one you mentioned it was listed for 30 grams so in a 2 TBSP serving it would only have 25 mg of magnesium. That is a LOT though considering it is 1/8 the daily value. I think there must be some magnesium in mine but it is not listed. The one I used is NOW Nutritional Yeast Flakes by Red Star. It didn't list magnesium on the Nutrition facts but they are not required to do so either....Unless yours was fortified with magnesium (that might be the case) then it would most likely be the same. The NOW foods one is great though---I got it on Amazon.com. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
