Going To Turkey 4 PGD? - Or CZECH Reb.?!!

Is anyone closer to getting PGD in Turkey? I heard that you might get sent to Cyprus for treatment with a Turkish clinic, which I wouldnt mind at all but wouldn't it be better just to go to Cyprus in the first place?!

I'm at least a year away from being able to have my own High tech voyage but I'd still like to gather as much info as possible on options for UK/Europe residents - It said on a BBC news link that PGD is available for medical reasons in the UK, would Chronic GD count? - I'm guessing not but it should; no-one chooses to have a mental condition.

Ooh that'd be exciting news! I thought she was off next year? KrazyKatgirl was able to get it with a medical reason tho' so it might be harder for us without 'genuine' medical reasons.

Yeah, where have they all gone?!

    Re: Anyone Going To Turkey?

I think its about £5,000 in Turkey without the flights - I think that does include their hotel tho? Theres a Turkish clinic that does a package deal with accomodation & the PGD is done in Cyprus... Which I don't understand; Why not just go to Cyprus? I know Rainsbury Clinic is a middle-man so you pay a lot extra for them to set things up that you could do yourself by contacting a clinic direct.

Obviously tho' I'm still pretty much in the dark as I havn't been myself yet.

The Rainsbury Clinic takes to much extra IMO - I was just amazed at the prices they had!!!

No way that I am paying extra for the "benefit" of travelling between countries, IF I were to do high tech.

I found another clinic that had reasonable prices, I will try to find the adress and post a link soon!

Yeah, I don't really see the point of them!

Do you know if the Czech clinic that had the good prices, will do PGD for family balancing? I don't know if Czechoslovakia is in Europe or not, I thought it wasn't so there is a hope that it will do PGD for anyone?

Hi girls which CZ clinic are you talking about?

I thought the prices for the Rainsbury clinic were a rip off too - hence why I went to Turkey.

Krissymum found this; The  Clinic of   Reproductive  Medicine  and  Gynecology  in  Zlin was  founded  in 2001, Czech Republic. They do IVF with PGD one treatment for appr 4 300 USD

    http://ivfvacation.com/index.html

But I don't know if it does 'family balancing'. I have emailed them but no reply as yet. I'd like to know more as it sounds cheap? And it's closer than Turkey?! [That's a guess]

    Re: Anyone Going To Turkey?

    Hi there,

I was actually in contact with someone from the clinic in Zlin about a year ago, and they do not officially

do PGD for family balancing but they sort of indicated that if you do PGD you know

the gender of the embies from that procedure anyway (from wanting good egg quality) and that from

there a couple could decide what embies to use, i.e discard the "wrong" gender or give them away.

However I am not sure what would happen if somebody found out about this in Czech rep

as I do think gender selection is banned in that country so just be careful.  Just my My Two Cents

Damn it! Thanks for that info.

I'd be worried that they might not do as they promised or indicated, you'd be on thin ice if it's not strictly legal. What a shame, it sounds a lot more affordable & I was hoping I could bribe DH with the idea of a holiday with nice Czech beer!! Back to the drawing board...Confused

Its so frustrating that there is this wonderful technology but we can't get access to it, unless you have enough cash.

    Hi Merlimoose!

What do you risk if you say that you have got several miscarriages in your own country and you do PGD? Who else that the clinic could know it is for gender selection (especially IF it is not written in a paper)? As a lawyer, what do you think we REALLY risk as a patient?

It seems to be another clinic in Greece that perform PGD for gender selection...even if it is not legal ...

    Thanks for your answer!

    Re: Anyone Going To Turkey?

I don't know, I was worried they might ignore the gender request & just inplant any gender, so there wouldn't be much point. It's another poster that is a lawyer, I'll ask her what she thinks but Czech laws are probably different?

I know 1 of the Turkey clinics sends you to Cyprus for the actual procedure, so it must be legal there -??!Confused Huh?
