CM changes and counting hours for O+12

I have read some conflicting info about when to start counting for O+12.  I have lots of EWCM that changes to sticky on O day.  My cycles are not always that regular, but since I have so much cm I can usually figure out when I ovulate due to the abrupt cm changes.  My question is--when do you start counting?  Once I notice the abrupt change to sticky, do I count 12 hours from then?  Does ovulation occur right when the CM changes or has it already occured earlier?  Thank you for your help!

If I remember Redcin correctly, it's when the CM changes to sticky that it's been O+12.  Going from EWCM to sticky is going from fertile time to infertile time.  So when you see your CM change you know you already O'd and it's time to BD because it could have already been O+12. HTHs

That's where I am confused!  I thought that you don't start counting until you notice the change and then bd 12 hours later.

The reason that the 0+12 is suppose to work for TTC DD is that when the CM changes to white and sticky it becomes very hostil to sperm. The theroy is that only the stronger female sperm will survive. So once your CM changes you are right to have an 0+12 attempt.

I have read a bunch of stuff on the time between ovulation and CM/cervix changing and the majority of what I could find is that it can be different for different women. But since the major factor is that the environment needs to be hostile, seeing you CM change and your cervix go hard means that you can have a really good 0+12.

Thanks for you help!  I just cannot decide between a cut-off and O+12 and I have been so confused about everything.  Just trying to figure it all out.  I'll make a decision and then read something and then change my mind again!

I'm in the exact same boat as you!!!  I never even considered O+12 until I came to this site and everyone here has me pretty convinced... only thing is, I'm not sure I could pinpoint O to a few hours-- just the day. Worried

Okay, so I am still confused.  So sorry to ask this yet again!  When my CM changes at O, it kind of changes abruptly.  I haven't ever really noticed it changing from wet to lotion to sticky.  It kind of just goes from wet and stretchy to more sticky and breakable.  In the "Gender Methods" section, it says to start counting once you notice the CM change.  It seems though that you are saying to BD when you notice the change so that is why I am confused.  Is it best to count hours past the CM change or BD right at the CM change?  Thank you again for your help!  We are getting close to O+12!

I think that as soon as you see the change in CM that you shold DTD.  I think the "Gender Methods" section is confusing.  Redcin said that as soon as the CM changes to creamy/sticky that it's girl territory.  I think if you do it when it changes, you have a greater chance of getting a BFP and a girl. but if you wait an extra 12 hrs you might not get pregnant at all.  If you want to wait, wait about 8hrs max cause that would bring you to O+20.  Anything later and the egg will probably be dead.

    Ok follow along...

you get a +opk!  yeah!  start watching your cervix and cm....

you get ewcm.. maybe you are o'ing?  your cervix is soft...  very possible!

ohh look your cm has shifted from ewcm to creamy!  now is bd time!  Because 12 hours AFTER YOU O everything shifts.  You know have from this time (0+12) to 8 more hours (0+20) to bd!

what do you know.. that next morning your temp shifts!  you were right!! (unless your cm shifted a couple of hours before you temp then your temp will say it is the next morning)

3 high temps have confirmed o!  great job
