When do you start buying stuff for your new baby?

I have not bought anything and I thought maybe I should start?  I really dont need alot (unless it's a girl).  I think I will wait until after my big u/s.......when do you start buying things for your new baby?

I waited until my big u/s.  I refused to buy any gender-specific things before that.  I was waiting on stuff like buying a Boppy, because I wanted to be able to buy them in girl or boy colors.

I bought all sorts of things before I even knew the gender. Every time I went to the store I bought diapers, wipes, baby bath, lotion, etc. With ds1 and kind of for ds2, a lot of the clothes were still gender-neutral so I had tons of clothes ready..that's not so easy anymore as most things are either pink or blue.

Ds4 I was so sure was a boy that I bought a bunch of boy stuff.....I didn't buy much for dd b/c I was skeptical, but I did buy some boy things. If I thought it was cute, g or b, I bought it.

I bought all my cloth diapers, nursing items, etc before my big U/S. I did not buy any clothing or bedding items until I found out what I was having at 14 weeks.

Re: When do you start buying stuff for your new baby?

Well, for DD1 which we waited until birth to find out gender.  We bought everything beforehand all second hand and either got gender neutral or some of each.  Then we got more stuff after her birth at yard sales and as gifts that were girl specific.  With DD2 I don't remember buying anything except a new high chair and car seat which were gender neutral.  Oh wait I did buy a bunch of warmer newborn clothes after the ultrasound since she was December and DD1 was March.  With DD3 I waited until the ultrasound and I bought even more girl clothes off ebay since she was a different season then the other two, born in August, and also it helped with my GD.  I also had to get a new boppy and swing which were both gender neutral.  We are big into yard sales, we've been slowly buying the big items new but most of the little stuff is used.  Well, I've been slowly collecting boy clothes ever since my first pregnancy.  Just a little bit here and there if it's really cute and a good price.  So now I've collected enough boy clothes to last the first 6 months plus some of the bigger sizes, and I have blankets and other things.  I still have all my big baby items, but have started a list of things I want.  Last weekend I bought another boppy pillow, since my old one got moldy like my first one did from getting wet while being stored, but I bought a blue one...it's still gender neutral but more boyish.  We also got a infant to toddler rocker for really cheap, since I wanted one.  For right now DD3 is using it.  I have a list of stuff that I still want to get like a glider rocker, sling carrier, bumbo seat, new stroller, and things like that that I don't need.  Then I have a list of things I need if I have a boy like receiving blankets, hats, towels, sheets, pacifiers, bibs, bigger sized boy clothes, etc., so my son doesn't have to use and wear pink.  I know if I find out boy I'll probably want to run out and buy some things out of excitement.  But I'm still holding out hope that I could have a baby shower to get all of the little things and some of the big things.  And also that I might get hand-me-downs from some relatives and friends.  If by chance I do have a 4th girl, I really don't need anything I'll probably just get a few really cute new outfits and focus on some of the bigger items that I want.  I've really been trying to hold out until the ultrasound to buy boy things, but it's hard!

I don't need anything big like swing, crib, carseat.  Unless it's a girl, I'm gonna buy pink.  And clothes.  But besides that, I've been too worried/nervous to buy anything.  I sure want to though!!!  Probably a good time is after the u/s

Re: When do you start buying stuff for your new baby?

Well, I think I'm pretty much done on clothesEmbarrassed  But I had a head start since I knew it was a girl from the beginning . . . most of my gear is neutral, so I won't be buying new.  The only thing left for me is nursery stuff (and I might wait on that since we'll keep her in our room first, and DS2 will still be in the room that will eventually be hers), and last minute practical stuff.

With my other two I waited until the big US . . . went crazy for a few weeks, and then didn't have much to buy until right before they were born.
