    Early Braxton Hicks!

Hello Multiple Moms! Happy Smile I am just curious when each of you began to experience braxton hick contractions. I am 18 weeks and have been having strong contractions, but nothing regular. Anywhere from 3-5 contractions an hour, and last off and on for a few hours. Is this normal in a twin pregnancy? With my first I had braxton hicks around 36 weeks (I didn't know what to look for) and with my second, I was between 27-28 weeks. Should I worry or relax as this is normal for a multiple pregnancy? Thanks in advance for your replies!

I am not preggy with twins, but with my last two pregnancies my BH have started at about 16-18 weeks.  I don't know what's normal with twins though.  I would probably call your dr and explain how many you are having.  At night now I have lots of BH, but nothing regular.  I know for me this is normal, but yours sound like a lot for 18 weeks.  Good luck and totally keep your dr informed of the frequency.

Thank you so much for your replies. Dr. said "No, big deal unless I started bleeding"! Still worries me though. I am still having them. Still nothing regular, but off and on throughout the day.  Wow! Mom of triplets! Here I am whining about the aches and pains with precious twins, lol! Was carrying triplets difficult for you? Congrats to you! ---- Would love to hear from more moms.....when did you begin to experience contractions? Thanks again in advance!

I started having them at 25 weeks I think it was. My doctor told me to drink more water. And he also said it was totaly normal with twins.

Midwife told me to report them to her if I had more than 8 within an hour.

I was told to call in if I had more than 4 an hour for 2 hours in a row.  I almost always got close to that threshold in the evenings especially but not over it.  I never had BH with my boys but had them all the time with my twins.  Laying on my left side and drinking lots of water helped.  There are also some meds they can give you to help.  GL!

I have started having them since last week. I am a teacher and I stand all day. There are times if I am doing too much (shopping, working too long on my feet)my stomach gets hard at night and uncomfortable. I am assuming those are contractions because normally my belly isnt hard. I havnt asked my dr yet but I am going in to see her in a couple weeks. My friend had twins and was having contractions so the dr put her on bed rest at 20 weeks. I am hoping to avoid that as I need my job! I will have to try and rest more during the day and not be up so much. I will let you know what my dr says.
