We don't run the air conditioner because it cost 100$ a day.  Well today was suppose to be 95*.  I took off the winter cover  on the ac and made my plan.  I shut every shade in the house and turned on a box fan to blow the cold air down stairs up.  Well it worked!!!!  The outside temp got to 93* and the inside only got to 83*.  I'm so happy!  This didn't work last summer but then we had a week of 90's.  Huge storms are on the way tonight, there have been 7 tornadoes already to the west of us.  Please say a pray for our safety if you think of it!  Thanks!

$100 a day???  Holy cow!  Either you live in a 10,000 sq ft mansion or you need a more efficient air conditioner or new energy efficient windows!

Glad you managed to beat the heat with creativity though Happy

Yikes, pricey.  I see why you'd not want to go there.  But if you keep the AC off for a month and a half and you've technically saved enough in electric costs to earn it!  Happy Wink

WOW. $100 a day for A/C??? How big is your home?? I live in California and our normal temps in the summer are around 118 degrees and we pay around $350 a month for our AC. Our AC system is very old as well but there is no way it should cost you that much to cool your home.

oh my gosh 106 and no air!  I would die.  The rule in my house is if the inside air gets to 90 the air goes on.  I have been running 3 fans for 3 weeks.  but they are new and dont take much energy

Have you considered getting a little $100 window air conditioner and only air conditioning one closed off room when it gets that hot?

well we survived the storms!  there was a down bust just as we were walking from the garage to the house and we all got soaked.  Be on the look out if you are in Wisconsin!  These storms have dropped 8 tornado's!

I almost did that last year.  But on average we only get 1-2 90* days a year.  last year was a freak thing
