Re: Do kids really "know" the gender....

My 3 1/2 yr old son insists that he's getting a sister. He gets upset if you tell him it could be a boy, he says no it's a sister. I hope he's right.

I just wanted to update that my son was right. He even asked me for a sister just days before I found out I was pregnant, so when I found out I was I thought it was so weird. The whole time he insisted it was a girl.

Re: Do kids really "know" the gender....

my daughter is obsessed with telling everyone that Mommy has a boy in her tummy. I have two girls, and yes...we are hoping for blue...but have been told by u/s that baby no 3 is another girl...

it certainly doesn't help any sort of settling into reality when a 2 1/2 year old tells you on a daily basis that she knows, and she is sure it is a boy!!

who knows....she may just want a brother...or she may know something we don't!  :)

My 7y/o tells me that I am having a girl. However he is my little gentleman so he might be saying that for mommys sake. Everytime I correct him and say it can be a baby brother he says "nope! it's a sister" my 3 3y/o is still a bit baby so he just says "it's a baby!" Happy LMAO we will have to wait and see.

All my boys think I am having a girl.  They always refer to baby as "she" or "her."  I hope they are right!!!!

You gotta wonder if young kids do have some kind of intuition about these things? There is the old tale about taking a child under 5 into a house that you might be thinking about buying...if they don't like it don't buy it...! Welll....I am hoping so anyway! My 3 year old boy has called this baby 'LilyBelle' (how cute is that name??!) from day one and insisted it is a girl. Both my boys want a sister-not just the mummy!!

Re: Do kids really "know" the gender....

I heard once if a toddler boy has an interest in your pg belly, it'll be a girl. My 4 yr. old nephew kept telling me girl. My ds1 said girl, too. I had a boy.

I don't think this is indicative of anything.

My little boy has been insistent from day one that I am having a girl, he would not be swayed otherwise, and I have indeed had a gender scan confirming girl!!

Re: Do kids really "know" the gender....

We were sitting in the car the day before my 4d scan when my ds2 starts going 'its a girl, its a girl' over and over again for about 3mins. We were looking around the car park asking where and what he was looking at, the car park was empty, and he just kept on repeating 'its a girl' . After he stopped saying it he just continued to play with his book like nothing had happened. We hadnt told the boys about the baby as we wanted them to 'meet' the baby at the scan. Well, were totally shocked to find out we are indeed having our first girl! He was right!
