URGENT advice needed regarding ovulation after miscarriage PLS!
|
|
hi everyone. I was overjoyed to find out that i was pregnant approx two weeks ago. But last week (thursday - 3rd july) i had a bit of spotting. This went on to full red bleeding for friday and saturday and today (sunday) the bleeding has slown to almost nothing. Also today we went for a full scan which found that there was nothing left inside the cervix. Doctors have said that most likely i have had a miscarriage and that i've lost the baby through the heavy bleeding [:'(]. The doctors have said that I won't need a D&C though.
I would have been 6 weeks pg tomorrow (monday) and going through this first miscarriage loss has really put me down because i was looking forward to this baby but the mc was very early that i think this is the reason it has made it easy for me to keep looking forward and not to dwell on what was not meant to happen. I have heard that after a miscarriage, a woman is more fertile and the chances of getting pregnant are higher. Therefore i want to take my chances and have another go for my ovulation.
Now i want to know a few things regarding ovulation after miscarriage and would be very grateful if anyone can guide me.
First of all let me give you some info:- my last period was on may 26th and if i wasn't pregnant then my last period would have been on june 23rd and my next period would be 21st july. My cycle is always 28 days, give or take day. My ovulation is also always 14 days from the first day of my cycle.
Now my questions are:-
1. Just like a period 1st day is classed from the start of full-flow bleeding, which day do i class a miscarriage from? 2. Is having a miscarriage classed as having a period? 3. From the info i have given you, what is the most likely day/date i will ovulate?
Sorry for such a long post, but i would be very grateful if someone could help me ASAP.
thank you
xx

I just wanted you to know that I am here but I don't know the answer to your question. Sorry hun!
I think I remember reading that you can ovulate 2 weeks after a miscarriage but that it may take longer for some people. I would assume that you can count the first day of red blood as CD1 for AF. I hope this helps a little bit but again I am just going from what I remember reading.
March 2009 IVF #1 Chemical Pregnancy 10dp3dt Beta #1 - 10; 12dp3dt Beta #2 - 9 April 2009 FET #1; 8dp6dt Beta #1 = 18; 10dp6dt Beta #2 = 42; 6wk1d Gestational Sac measuring behind; 7wk5d Blighted Ovum; 8wk0d D&C IVF in May/June 2011... SIRM Las Vegas here we come!!

baba, I am really sorry about your loss. I don't believe you can count your miscarriage as a period and then count from there. One of the reasons why doctors want you to wait until at least one full cycle is so it is easier to determine when you conceived. I don't think you would get an accurate reading with opk either because you may still have the pregnancy hormone still in your body which would give you false positives. I was also warned by my doctor that it is best to wait for at least one full cycle because if not you are at slightly bigger risk of it happening again.

thanks for your advice maya. To be honest, i'm not bothered in working out when i conceived..i mean why is that so important anyway?
Your right in saying that there is a slightly more risk of miscarriage, but that risk is so small. I found a site recently (don't remember the name) which showed in research that a person who has had no miscarriages has 11% chance of miscarriage and a person who has had one miscarriage will have 16% chance of miscarriage..the risk is 5% greater which i'm willing to take.
Once again thanks for helping me..i really appreciate it.

Believe me, I understand you! When I lost DD, the ONLY thing that would give me comfort was knowing that I would be trying again ASAP. Good luck to us both! I just got stupid AF this morning, so I am waiting to O again. I hope that we can both have our names on the July BFP list with sticky, healthy beans.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss maya. I just hope that we both can comfort and advice each other through this difficult time.

Oh keep your hopes up maya....i know thats its difficult, but if not for your own sake, then do it for me as a friend!!! Lastly good luck to you and i wish you all the best and hope you get your BFP!!
If its possible, just keep trying and trying. Let me tell you how i succeeded after trying for a long time and not having any luck. I started taking folic acid 1 month before we BD'd. My ovulation is 14 days after my AF, but rather than take the risk, we tried AF post-days 11,12,14,15,17,19 and we succeeded.

I am really sorry for your loss. I had a m/c around the same time in the fall. I can't say if you should count the day you started to bleed as cd1, but I can tell you that I, like you, have a very regular cycle, and after the m/c, I got my next af 28 days after the m/c. I ended up waiting out 3 months, the first two because I needed to get myself emotionally ready to ttc again, and the third because my DH was away! So, if you are eager to ttc again, you could perhaps try around when you would normally O (14 days after m/c?) and if you don't get pg that time, your cycle will likely be back on track for the second try. Good luck to you. I agree that the best way to get over the loss is to get pg again! I'm happy to say I'm right at 17 weeks now. All the best, K.

i'm so sorry to hear about your loss kayjay. So you tried after 3 months and are you saying that you succeeded? After your m/c heavy bleeding, how long did u spot for?
Just to up-date you all, i have noticed since yesterday evening that i am still spotting, albeit very little. It is day 5 today so i assume this is normal as many of you have said bleeding/spotting continues for between 6-8 days after the first day of full flow of bleeding just as like an AF, it is water like blood, in very small amounts like the end of my AF. I also did a pregnancy test in the morning today and it still shows positive.

After my m/c last month, I read up as much as I could about when to conceive etc. A pregnancy test will be positive for a week to 2 weeks, sometimes more, sometimes less. It takes a while for the HCG to clear out of the system.
If there is no known reason for your m/c, the doctor cannot tell you when it will be safe to conceive again. They advise people to wait until AF has returned, but normally a woman ovulates 2-6 weeks after the first day of bleeding, so in theory she can fall pregnant during this time. I wanted to wait, but when it came to O day (according to YourDays), Dh and I just went for it! I now have to wait and see if I did ovulate 2 weeks after or if I have not yet ovulated. LH strips don't work because they have been positive since my m/c. According to peeonastick this is quite normal if there is a 'hormonal' problem (such as just after an m/c). All I can say is follow your heart and try again when you are ready. Alice

alice i'm sorry to hear about ur miscarriage. I've given a urine sample to the doctor, so that they can measure my HCG. This will give me an idea about how quick my hcg is reducing.
I am still spotting and hope it stops soon. My DH has told me to eat plenty of healthy foods as they then to helping any healing and energy the body need..lets hope he's right!
I wish u the best of luck with you having a successful pregnancy!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had our m/c the same day. I'm still bleeding with clots, so I don't think I'm going to O anytime soon. I think I will wait until late August to TTC again, even though its so hard to wait.
I know 2 girls that got pg the same cycle they had a m/c and had healthy babies. Good luck baba!

I am so sorry for your loss. I am on CD 27 and still waiting to O after my miscarriage. I counted my first day of bleeding as my CD1. Good luck to us all in our quest for a BFP!
