Finally a group for us Mums of large families!

So, how many kiddies do we all have?  And where are we all from?  And what's the best and worst things about having lots of sproglings?  Did you plan your family to be so big?

As for me, I will soon have six children.  I am done after this baby is born for health reasons and will be making the jump to some form of permenant birth control shortly.  I'm from England and where I live it's fairly uncommon to have more then 3 children...  I love having a large family and always planned for a large family ever since childhood and having suffered GD for a few years whilst having all my boys I'm now in a happy place and feel I have the perfect family for me!  The best thing has to be the fact that I love chaos and my house is always full of noise, entertainment, idea's, hugs and kisses.  I love the way my kids interact with each other and how everywhere we go we get comments on how well behaved they are...  I love the look of shock on people's faces when they see us all together and I love blowing their preconceptions of noisey, disorganised, boisterious, naughty kids from THAT big family who don't know anything about birth control, out the water!!!

Only real downside for me is that I love fast, sexy, sports cars.  And obviousely I can't fit in one anymore and am having to drive an 8 seater now.  That said it's not really a downside as I intend to buy myself a Merc when the kids are all in school full time!!!!  LOL  My treat for surviving the early years of motherhood!

What's a big family?  I was an only child and never really thought about how many kids I'd have.....but we're on our 4th (and last, I think!).  That's pretty big to me.  No one in my family had a big family except my grandparents. 

I've always personally, thought four or more children was a large family.  Three I don't, personally, count as a large family because you can still fit in a normal car and a small house!!!  LOL

My DH is an only child, of an only child, of an only child etc...  He definately broke the family mold with six kids!!!!  LMAO

Well, ok then, I count!  We did get a bigger SUV even though mine fit 7 people, it would have been a hassle, bigger kids would have had to climb over the seat in the back to get in and out! 

DH is the oldest, then 2 younger brothers....I figure even if I have another boy, I had to have one more kid than my MIL--didn't want to be like her with only 3 boys! 

I am from CA , have 4 boys and we are TTC our 5th child - hopefully a girl!  I know what you mean about GD, not that we would trade any of our boys !  I still feel like something is missing.  I never imagined I'd have 4 or 5 kids.   I come from a family of 4 girls, my husband has a brother and 2 step brothers.  Our family doesn't get very excited when we announce pregnancies anymore - they all feel we have enough.  We have very loud and rough boys but love them all dearly.  I couldn't imagine life without any of them.    We also had to upgrade to a large SUV, it's just shy of being a school bus! 

I have to ask did you end up swaying for your girls or did you go high tech or was it just your turn?  I'd like any advice on how to achieve a DD.   

I didn't do anything that I can think of for my girls.  Infact probably perfect boy attempts really judging by the fact I probably concieved both on or within 24hour of O...  The ONLY thing I can think of that was ANY different was the fact I was drinking more wine at the time.  Not loads, but having a glass with dinner each night, whereas when I concieved the boys I rarely had anything to drink except at parties or special occasions.

Good luck!!!  It seems that a lot of the ladies I know right now are getting pregnant with their longed for DDs for baby #5!

Good luck ladies I hope you all get the desired gender for your large and lovley families... I love having a big family, it is so much fun of course it is bigger than I ever expected it to be...lol oh well!

I had my fourth boy this year.  I'm not quite sure if I've finished or not.  I love the looks I get from people when I'm out and about with my four beautiful boys, they're all great.  Money is a bit tight though....but hey I'm sure everything will be ok

I always wanted at least 3 and when i was pregnant with ds3 we were immediately talking about  #4.  For a while there i was saying that i would like to have a 5th...but i'm starting to think i have reached my limit...and dh is very adamant that this is our last. (But he has not been snipped sooooooooooo you just never know) 

I am pregnant with my 5th- a girl after 4 boys!! I am very excited and I love having a big family. We think this will probably be our last, but who knows? The only thing stopping us from having more is money. (Kids are expensive!!) We haven't figured out how to grow that money tree in our backyard yet. (:

I agree it is nice to have a place for bigger families. I use another forum and I would feel like a bit of a weirdo asking the questions that I need answering on there as they are pretty much smaller families/first timers. I don't think they would understand planning the next one before the one in the bellies out yet lol.
