Yes, people are very rude. My family and friends have actually been pretty good about the news. It is my co-workers that I dread telling. I got all the comments when I was pregnant with my third so I can only imagine what they are going to say now. I don't know why I really care. I probably won't tell them until I start showing. I will let them all whisper and ask me.
It is hurtful, especially from family members who are supposed to support you no matter what. It is weird, as pp mentioned, how many people do consider children to be burdens and not blessings. I kind of feel bad for them.
Anyways, congratulations and try not to let them get to you.

My new vent on why are people so rude: let me be upset that I am having twins! This wasnt planned and it will change my whole world! I am tired of people saying "your so negative. its a blessing" yes I am blessed to have children and to be fertile. However, this was not what I planned out! Let me be upset for the life I thought I was going to have and be scared about my new life that lays ahead of me. There are scary things invovled with a twin pregnancy and it is far from what I expected. I can be upset for a while!!!! I am so tired of having to be positive polly around certain people just so they dont say things to me! Also, I will eat what I want! Dont tell me I shouldnt be eating my mcdonalds fries! If I am hungry I want it! Its amazing that I have my appetite back! I wish they could feel what its like to have nausea for three and a half months straight! UUUGGHH!!!
thanks I feel better now !

What amazes me is how many of the rude people are our Mothers!!! I miscarried for 2 years before this one stuck and my Mother was so rude and obnoxious at every turn..."we had a boy and a girl why would we keep doing this?". I made a point of saying one time that if we were going to have one more I really wanted another girl because my DD would love to have baby sister....I got an earful for that one too. We need another boy in this family!!!
Now it's the name thing...we let our 8yr old DS have first dibs on her middle name.....Since he is a big George Lucas fan and LOVES Indiana Jones her middle name is Indiana.....My Mother is bent on this one.....she's forbidden to speak to me about it anymore. She sat at the dinner table the other night telling DD that she could change her name as soon as she turned 18 (her name is very close to my paternal grandmothers name and they disliked each other greatly....it really had nothing to do with my grandmother at all). I almost throttled the woman at the dinner table...
Can we all make a pack that when our time comes and our children are grown adults that we will be supportive and cheerful with whatever they face, whatever choices they make and whatever paths their lives take? Obviously there are exceptions, but for the most part child rearing is so hard why be anything than supportive?
On top of it all my mother wants to be in the room when this one is delivered.......I honestly don't think I could take it, but I have no way of telling her no, esp since I'm the last of our girlfriends to do this and they all want to be there and they probably will be...."everyone but you Ma"....no way to do that gracefully.

I'm sure we will get a lot of weird reactions if we manage to have another baby. Our youngest is almost five, so I'm sure people will assume it was a "mistake". My mom knows we are trying MS/IUI for a girl, but my dad has no idea that we are considering the idea of a third child. He would hit the roof and think that we are very irresponsible. I believe he thinks two is the right number of kids because that's what his parents had. The sad thing is that they wanted more but couldn't. My mom, who is one of five kids, would have liked more, but my dad wouldn't have more than two. I'm dreading the look on his face if I ever get to tell him I'm pregnant again.
