    X-posted from the pregnancy board:

When I was pregnant with my son my skin became extremely dry, especially on the upper arms/ shoulders and on my hands. My childhood excema flared up as well, especially between my fingers. My doctor prescribed different cremes, even an anti-fungal cream because he thought it might be a fungal skin infection, but nothing helped.

Anyway, with this pregnancy my skin is supersoft (no dryness, no excema) but often it shows red flushes, especially in my face and sometimes my entire belly is flushed, hot and red and breaks out in something like a rash with lots of tiny spots (almost looks like a German measles rash, but I know I'm immune and it disappears over night).

Climate & weather have been the same for both pregnancies.

It just occurred to me how different my skin has been in both pregnancies. Have you noticed anything similar? Is my body just having extreme reactions to the pregnancy hormones? Could it be a sign of having the opposite sex this time around? (My gender scan is next week, so I'll know for sure then - if baby co-operates!)

I hope this means you will be having a girl Pray With my last 2 kids I was hoping and praying I would have different symptoms but with all three they were the same so I just knew they were boys...

Amity...my skin was bad with dd.  I had the pregnancy mask for the first time ever with her.  (PS still has not gone away and she is 15months!).  I also was oily and very much pimply!  I never get pimples.  So I figured something was up.  Plus my hair was dry and brittle.

Hmm, that sounds similar to me (skin & hair)! I SO hope it means girl for me too. Pray

I dont know what i am having yet but i have noticed different skin changes with this pregnancy vs. when i was pg with my DD.

With  dd skin changes happened before i even missed my period. I got dark pigment patches around my mouth. And a few weeks after founding out i was pg my complexion over my whole face eventually darkened. And the darkness didn't occur because of the sun because this happened in late november/december. I had occassional pimple ts but for the most part my skin did very well. Also i had a hair growing on my neck (LOL, dont know why its there) and it was so annoying. i would cut this hair and each month it would come back. Well  while i was pg it was gone. And the last thing is i got the line on my belly when i was 11 weeks and it was dark.

With this pregnancy my skin complexion hasn't changed. i have occasional breakouts but nothing major. That one little hair that is growing on my neck is here still. And the line on my belly hasn't shown up yet. People saying i'm having a boy. I get to find out in a few weeks.

    just thought i'd share !!!

    Hi,

With my two first boys, I had great skin and hair. With my third son I had bad skin but great hair still. As he had a condition, the levels of hormones were probably higher than with my two first boys, causing the skin problems and morning sickness. Well, that's my obgyn's opinion.

This PG, my skin is really flushed and I look like a teenager again on a regular basis. My hair is dry, brittle and falls out like mad. It's a girl this time.

    Good luck!!

     UPDATE:

Well, despite the fact that my skin is flushed, my hair is dry and brittle and I am breaking out all over in weird pimples and rashes.... IT'S ANOTHER BOY!

I guess that proves that opposite symptoms don't always equal opposite gender.
