Did your baby feel big?

I was induced with DS at 38 weeks, well he came out 5.5lbs, WASN'T 38 weeks obviously. My u/s always measured off but I guess my dr. never paid enough attention to change my due date.

I am really nervous this time around because I have no idea when I got pregnant, I had a dating u/s at 12 weeks and she measured 12 weeks 1 day. I am assuming that is accurate??????? I had another at 19 weeks and she measured I think 3 days behind. I am now 36+ weeks and I am starting to get nervous, everyone is telling me how tiny I am. The baby doesn't FEEL big if that makes sense, she still feels really small in there. I have an u/s Monday to check her weight because I have to have a c/s at 39 weeks (insurance policy)- I am nervous though beacause these can be off I do NOT want another tiny, early baby. My question is this--- did you know by the way your stomach felt, looked how big your baby was going to be????

No, he didn't.  He was born at 38w2d, I wasn't HUGE, but he was over 9 lbs.  I was shocked.

i couldnt either. i think i get pretty big for only having 7 lb babies

some people just have small babies - you could be one of them.   the 12 week u/s is reasonably accurate.  an earlier u/s would have been more accurate. 

 my friend was 38 weeks and her baby was 5lb 3 oz.  she went into labor on her own.  at 18 months, her child is still tiny.

 I was still pretty small at 37 weeks with DS and this pregnancy, I am gaining less weight, and seem to be expanding slower, so might be smaller this time.  I think if your doctor isn't worried about your size and the progess of the baby, then you shouldn't worry either.

I think it depends on how you carry the baby.  With Ds 1 I carried him low, low and felt huge and he was huge 8lbs 8 oz, but DS 2 I carried more up in front and he was born at 38 weeks 7 lbs 5 oz.  So I think it depends on how you carry them (on whether they feel large or not) and then whether you will have big babies bc some people just dont have big babies.  DS1 is in the 20th percentile now, and DS2 is just barely on the charts in about the 5th and he just made it there at 2!!

Some babies are just tiny. Did your DS have problems and have to stay in the hospital for a while?

MY DS1 was only 6lbs 5oz at exactly 40 weeks. And I know my due date was right. He even measured 3 weeks ahead of schedual at arround 30 weeks. I think he had just slowwed way down in the end. But who knows, if he had been born 2 weeks earlier he may have been the same size as your DS.

With my two I never looked huge.  Noone ever made comments about me being large.  I am 5.7 though so pretty tall.  Both of the were born at 38 weeks and were 8lbs 10oz and 8lbs 7oz.  I am so grateful that I don't make it to 40 weeks because they'd surely be almost 10 lbs.  I am being induced this time at 38 weeks too.

With DS1 & 2 I felt massive & had 6lb2oz / 9lb6oz babies. With DS3 I felt & looked very small compared to previous pg but still had an 8lb8oz baby!

A mother I know always looked tiny & gave birth to little babies (5-6lbs). This was just normal for her & may be the same for you. From what I have heard the 12wk scan is supposed to be more accurate than the 19-20 wk U/S.

I'm not sure if DS 1 was 38 weeks or not... the doctor in the hospital and my OB got into an argument, my Dr. said he was in fact 38 weeks but DS's doctor said no this baby is about 36 weeks. He had NO breathing problems, but did have jaundice and could not hold his own body temperature. My stomach measures exactly, but it did with him too. I requested the ultrasound on Monday (i'll be 37 weeks) because I do look small for this far along. Dr. even got concerned and measured 3 different times. I guess I could just have small babies but I'm normal size... 5'5 and right now 160 lbs (pre-pg I'm 120). I weighed 7lbs 15 oz. DH weighed 7lbs 3 oz. So we'll see.... I really appreicate your input. She seems small to me, but maybe I'll be surprised.

I was huge with DS1 and everyone kept asking if I was having twins. He was 8lbs 11oz, 52cm (4 days overdue), but I was surprised as he didn't look like a big baby when he was born and I am only 5foot2inches, DH not so tall either. With DS2 I wasn't as large, but had him at 38 weeks, he was 7lb 5oz, 51cm and looked so tiny compared to DS1 when he was born. I am 24 weeks along now and feel huge, but I still have no idea how big he will be. I am fairly sure that the earliest U/S is the most accurate. I am sure your baby will be just fine.GL!
