Just got back from my U/S and its two boys.  I thought I was prepared for this but I guess I really was not.  I just can't stop crying and my 5 year old son is crying because he wanted "at least one sister".  With my first two it did not hit me so hard because I knew there was still hope for a girl, but this is it for us.  No way could I have more than 4 kids.  I just can't believe I will never have a daughter.  Thank god I have 4-5 months to cope before they are born..

Both boys look to be perfect -- healthy and the right size.  So that was wonderful news.

Time to start shopping for more blue...

I am so sorry that you did not hear girl for at least one of the twins.  i myself recently found out we are having our third boy so I know exactly how you feel except 1 not 2,  it must be doubly hard.  I think at least having twins maybe more of a novelty - like both of your boys will both have a baby each to look after?  is there anyway that in a while you would think about high tech? i never thought dh would consider having any more after this one but he was the one who suggested the high tech which has made me feel a bit more positive about this little boy inside me...

I am glad that they were healthy though.  I am sure that your little  boys will be really excited once they get to go shopping with you for all the cute baby things

I'm sorry sweetie.  If it helps I know exactly how you feel.  I'm not pregnant with twins, but I am pregnant with son #4.  I also thought for sure this would be my last pregnancy, but I'm still not positive.  Don't say never just yet.  Life is short, and if you want that daughter badly enough, don't give up your dream. 

Congrats for the fact that they are healthy and I hope you feel better each day....

I think twins are really special - especially natural twins like yours are. and i know it sounds really strange as I was so so devasted about having a third boy - but I kind of think i would have coped better if they were twin boys as they will be hard work but also so special - and there are LOTS of ladies on here that would love to have twins!!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry you didn't see any pink at the u/s.  It has to be tough to hope for a girl and instead get a double-dose of boys.  But, like the PP said, it is really precious and special to have twin boys, and they are going to love being one of 4 brothers.     And wonderful news that both babies are doing so well!  Lots of hugs, Maureen

Gosh, I am so sorry.  You really deserved at least one girl - like it's just too much to ask for, you know?!  Go gentle on yourself, and hopefully it'll be fun shopping for matching blue outfits - twins are so adorable and precious.  Hang in there - we're thinking of you.

I'm sorry you didn't get to hear girl. Don't just buy blue, buy lots of different colors :-) There are so many super cute clothes for boys now, especially since you're having twins. I'm a little jealous just because twins are so special.

Congratulations on your twin boys!

I know it is sooo hard when you do not hear the news that you really wanted. I always wanted girls, like forever!

I am an identical twin & my DS 2 & DS3 are identical twins. My nans sisters are also identical twins so naturally when they told me it was identical twins.... it had to be girls!! WRONG!! I was hysterical (as I always am when they tell me I am having even more boys!)

Don't give up on the dream, I haven't...I'm hoping DH will let me have 1 more go!!

Twins are a gift, they will always have each other & I know from experience that it is wonderful (both as a twin & a mum to twins) xxx

Thanks ladies for all of the words of encouragement.  I am feeling a lot better now.  I picked out a great nursery set (Baby Boats from Pottery Barn Kids) and bought a few baby outfits from Target -- not just blue as someone mentioned -- I am a big fan of dressing little boys in lots of different colors and am always on the lookout for cute boy clothers -- which do exist if you search hard enough.

But what really made me feel better was that as I was driving my two little guys to swim lessons I started thinking...well, I am "only" 33 and if in 6 or 7 years I really feel like I need to have a daughter we could do IVF/PGD or international adoption (I know Korea lets you adopt with up to 4 kids already).  Five kids is a lot but if the boys were all in school already it might be doable... I figured the only hurdle would be convincing dh.  Then I got home from swim lessons and dh said "I was thinking, in 5 or 6 years we could adopt a little Asian girl or try high tech because I really want you to have a daughter."  I almost fell over.  I do not think I ever loved him as much as I did at that moment!

So even though 4 kids was already over my limit, 5 is seeming like a good number now!  Since I still have hope of one day getting a girl, I can start getting excited about this pregnancy again.  I always knew I would love these babies no matter what, it was just so hard to let go of that dream of having a little girl someday.  Now that I still have the dream, I can enjoy my twin boys even more.  And I will certainly post pictures when they are born :-)  Twins really are very special and I feel very lucky to be having them.

Great story Laura...glad to hear that you are warming up to the idea of 2 more boys...it will be sweet.  Congrats!

Laura, I am so happy you and DH are on the same page!!  I was going to ask your age, but then i thought that was inappropriate.  33 is definitely still young and you have time!  See?  Your dream is not over at all!  And when your boys are all in school it will be easier for you, or whenever you decide!  Great news, and I'm happy for you!
