I was not sure where to post this...I am 9 weeks pregnant and only my family and a select few know.  My husband and I were were playing Euchre with several other couples last night.  One of  my girlfriends, that does not know I am pregnant, came up form behind me , grabbed me around the waist ...tight and picked me up from behind (acts of drinking a lot).  My husband witnessed the whole event and about freaked, but it is one of those slow motion things.  I just went to the doc 2 days ago for a sono and all is well.  Suggestions, thoughts...am I overreacting?

I think you'll be fine.  It would take a lot to shake a baby loose in a pregnancy(unless you have experienced it before).  Just to make you feel better....I am 12 weeks and my two wild boys have been jumping, pushing and kicking me (accidentally of course) during playtime and I'm ok.  That baby is cushioned so well and is so tiny at this stage that it would take a lot....My girlfriend was in a really bad car accident in her early weeks and her baby was fine too.  Hope these examples help.  Since you already checked and baby is fine....just put it out of your head.  I am guessing you will be telling people in a few weeks anyway so that kind of thing won't happen again.  Hope this helps.

I don't like to say "over react", but I don't think anything could come of being picked up that way.  I'd only worry if you fell down steps or got into a serious car accident.  The baby is well protected, especially at this stage.  I had my 30lb toddler come up and jump on my stomach when I was pg with my 2nd and then my 25lb toddler do the same when I was pregnant with my third (not encouraging these behaviors LOL-- OUCH).  Anyway, number 2 and number 3 are both healthy children now! lol

I too agree that the baby is safe and cush. in there. I have had a 30 pound 12 month and an active 2 year old all over me during the 2nd and third trimester and I could feel the baby jump inside of me when the tackled me and he was fine. Obvious, if you've had m/c before, or start spotting I would be a bit more concerned, and follow up with a doc. I taught inner city 3rd grade while preg. with #1 and had SEVERAL times where I was swung at or hit in the tummy early on, when no one knew and baby was perfect.   Good Luck!
