Ok - now I am really paranoid - I just did some research on the Internet and most mini pills do not stop ovulation - they only reduce CM and cause it to thicken so that the sperm cannot get to the egg - only the newest mini pill causes ovulation to stop - I have no idea which mini pill I am taking.  It also says that another method of birth control is necessary during the first month of taking it.  Why didn't the doctor explain this all to me?  Will an OPT tell me if I am ovulating?

You are correct, the mini pill does not stop Ovulation it only stops implantation.  If this is against you beliefs (your doc should have explained it to you) then you might need to reconsider your birth control options.  If you are worried that you O'd and believe life starts at implantation you can still go to you doc and have a Mirena IUD put it.   This is safe for breast feeding.  Basically the Mirena puts birth control meds right into your uterus and prevents implantation (and can sometimes stop ovulation.)  If you feel that life begins at conception than you need to talk to you doc, either way you should call your doc.  If you want to risk it, I have read that a lot of missed pill babies turn out to be girls because only the stronger sperm can survive the harsh environment cause by BCP.  By the way, no BCP  can completely stop ovulation, that is why they have stopping implantation as a back up.
