Fourth&Final - I'm kind of in the same boat as you - would consider terming if my next child isn't a girl. I'm planning on doing a CVS/FISH test at 10 weeks to see one way or another the next time I am pregnant. The CVS/FISH test is expensive but very accurate, so I'd suggest maybe looking into that if you're considering terming. I wish you the best of luck with everything. *hugs*

Seb, is it bc you just don't want to go through it all again for a 4th boy, that you'd rather just not have any more children? I think that's how I feel. Like ok ill take this exhausting and daunting ride for a girl but if not I'm very happy with my 3 sons. Let me know!

For me, it's a lot of very personal reasons. I actually only have one child - a boy, and am still dealing with horrible GD for a multitude of underlying reasons. To avoid writing a book in this post I'll leave it at that. If I conceive another child it is going to be my last. I can't imagine going though another pregnancy and raising another boy so in the event that it is a boy, I would likely terminate. Raising children is extremely daunting and challenging and exhausting. For me, to have a second child, I would have to have a girl.

Those tests that predict gender early like tellmepinkorblue don't seem to be as accurate as they claim to be. I just wanted to make sure you knew that CVS/FISH testing is out there to help you make the decision with results that are much more likely to be accurate.

I truly wish you the best of luck with everything, no matter what you ultimately decide to do.

Seb2011, doesn't CVS cause miscarriages for a lot of women? i think if i did the urobioligics DNA test (next week) plus the pink or blue test (august14th)and they BOTH said girl, id be convinced it was a girl but would still understand they could be wrong and only the ultrasound would provide clarity. and if both tests came back boy then i'd know, and this decision would be between me and god because nobody knows im pregnant. my husband is so umbelievable he would support anything i wanted to do...all he wants is for me to be happy. he knows how much id love having a girl and he wants to give me one. i will wait for my results, then pray deep and hard about what is best for me and our family. for what it's worth, my sister in law has a 3 year old girl, they REALLY wanted a boy and not having any more because her little girl is sooooooo difficult and she sees all my sons and doesn't understand why she didn't have one so gd goes both ways in all crazy directions. again, your support is greatly appreciated; its funny how virtual strangers can touch you deeply :o)

they are both SCAMS.  don't bother with them at all.  Its like fliping a coin.. you can get heads 2 times but that won't mean its right.

IsIt's just so hard to look into the future. It's hard to know 5 years from now how our life will be. Into pregnant when I was 16, and I scheduled an abortion. I was too young, no money, boyfriend didn't want it, didn't know what to do. Couldn't have a baby. I never went to the appointment. My 7 year old is amazing. I will never regret keeping him, but if I did abort him I know I would have regretted it. If you abort, will you regret it in 5 years? If you keep the baby, even if it is a boy, would you regret it in 5 years? Do you regret your older children? It's the bigger picture, not just how your feeling now. How would your children feel if they knew you didn't keep a brother? All things have to be considered.

CVS testing *can* cause miscarriage, but from what I've researched this figure only hovers around 1-2ish% of all women who have the test done. Apparently the more experienced someone is at doing CVS testing, the risk decreases. So, if you're considering CVS, I would strongly recommend talking with your doctor about your desire for CVS with FISH (which will get you results on gender and a few birth defects like downs syndrome and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.) Your doctor will be able to point you to someone with lots of experience doing the test so help further reduce that risk of m/c. Actually, this article from the CDC puts the rate of m/c with CVS a bit lower. Feel free to check it out: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00038393.htm

While those tests like pinkorblue are good for entertainment value, they probably shouldn't be relied upon to make a decision to terminate or keep a pregnancy based on gender. From what I've read, they don't sound like the most ethical company either - people are posting on consumer boards that their results were wrong and they haven't been able to claim their refunds for inaccurate results. It may be best to steer clear of them and save your money for CVS.

Sounds like you certainly have quite a lot on your plate right now between trying to figure out what to do about your pregnancy and the things going on with your family. GD is such a monster, and petty family politics are playing a lot into my feelings and my all out fear of having another boy. :( :( :( :( :( Even though you have a lot going on right now and aren't sure about your pregnancy, try to remember to take good care of yourself and rest when you can. The first trimester of pregnancy is so exhausting. :P

I'm glad my postings have been helpful to you and I really hope that everything works out for the best for you and your family. *hugs*

I just was curious as to why you assume a girl would be worth having and a son would not? I mean I get you want a daughter, I do, but my dd2 is NOTHING like the girl I'm sure you have pictured in your head. She won't come out pre packed with a permenatly hair bow and sparkles. She may have an identical personality as one of your sons and may despise dressing up and being prim and sweet. I'm truly not trying to bash you I'm just asking why would she be worth it it a son would not? I mean, you did create this child with your husband, you know? Again if we're to abort simply for gender I just can't understand and I get it's not my place to try to understand it... But please please hear me when I say a daughter can be just like a son only with a vagina.... My girls are so unbelieveably opposite and they were raised the exa t same way... Just hope it's something to think about.

All the things I dreamed you'd be are all the things you are. You will always be my little girl, always my shining star."    1 Samuel 1:27

it's funny that you mentioned sparkles & bows....YUCK!! if i had a girl id hope she'd be a tomboy as i was - it's not that a boy is bad and a girl is good....it's just that our house is full/our life is full/ i have my own business & it's taking off/im 42 and my baby begins kindergarten next month/ i thought fertile days were gone since im 42 and this was a total shock. but a good one. if it's a boy its not the end of the world but it is a HUGE endeavor to take on when im not that keen on another boy.

BUT, i just got an email from the testing place and their holding strong to their position of accuracy, " It gives us pleasure to mention that due to significant improvements in our procedures, our current expected average accuracy is nearly 95.0%. Actually, we might be operating in a near zero error phase because every sample is being tested by newly developed color procedures. This may not be taken to mean that we are absolutely perfect, but we are now in a position to compete with well-known gender determining technologies like CVS and amniocentesis. Furthermore, since we can detect the gender AS SOON AS ONE CAN DO THE PREGNANCY TEST, we have become the earliest in the world in this field."

if it is a boy, im sure, knowing me, that i will immediately give it a little face and the adventure will suddenly seem worth it....i just can't imagine doing midnight feedings again and at the same time we have a child in college; it's the neverendingstory!

I have had a few questions about the urine test that I'm submitting tomorrow to hopefully tell me what I want to hear...I wrote to the company 2x and both times had my emails answered in great detail. It's either the best customer service I have EVER experienced or there are employees at the company who get these emails and all reply as the head doctor of urobiologics!! So even if my tests results are wrong, I still feel comfy that I wasn't getting ripped off by some company that takes the money and runs.

my delightful middle son, jack, just told me he wants me to have another baby and would prefer a sister to shake things up in this family...i asked him how he woud feel if it was another boy - his response, "who cares, it's a baby and that's what's excitingHeart". out of the mouth of babesHappy

I'm sorry but making such a decision based on all these scam tests is not a trustworthy way to go...if you feel that strongly y didn't u go high tech ...to just end a life because of the sex???? Wow I'm blown away!!! I have 5 amazing sons and a daughter on the way an could never imagine basing a decision on tests that are not 1000% sure of gender ...heck even U/S have been miss read...this is so so sad too me...maybe cuz I have all these boys an I know how wonderful each one is or my hormones are going mad either way...think long and hard before you make such a definate decision based on the gender...it may give you nightmares always wondering if the test that was 95% right was 5% wrong...if only it were that easy to choose...and think of how you'll feel if it is your girl and u actually considered such an unbelievable act over her gender if the test r wrong....we have an amazing gift to give life and grow these little beings inside us...boy or girl we choose to become prego those unborn babies don't...FYI I read somewhere there is nothing in urine that can tell the sex of a fetus only guesses by your ph...my gender urine test was purple ..pink or blue was the gimic ...ya know what they said in great detail when it was purple..The test was inconclusive wow!! INCONCLUSIVE!! Your sons right it's a baby and that's exciting!!youd be taking away from them ..also this new baby could be somthing big in this world...Good luck to you and your unborn baby..I hope you have a healthy pregnancy that you enjoy...

i'll take him!!! oh please don't abort him over something silly like whats hidden in a diaper. send him over here and he'll be covered with kisses and hugs all the rest of his days. i do know how you feel sweetie. when i found out my 5th yes my 5th child was a 5th girl i lost it.. i cried and screamed and i didn't want to be pregnant anymore. i locked myself in my bathroom for hours. i prayed for a miscarriage.. i got it. kinda... at 22 weeks my water broke. my beautiful daughter was born weighing just 15ounces. she was alive. but doctors refused to save her, she was just too small they said. it took her 2 hours to die in my arms. not a day goes by i don't wish i could have her back. if i could take back the awful things i said.

now i have my darling son. and i love him so much but he dosen't make me a better mom. he doesn't make me any happier then my girls did. its just another baby to care for. and i get to dress him in blue. there is zero difference between a girl baby and a boy baby. but you can do it! my oldest is going to be 12 soon. which means when my son starts kindergarten my daughter will graduate high school. it also mean i have 3 children all under the age of 3 right now. but this is my family. and im proud of my family and im a strong woman and so are you. we can do this.

You can claim anything in an e-mail.  I would like that near zero error stat to be scientificaly verified by an outside testing firm with at least 100 pregnant females with their testing results vs actual birth results. Just my opinion. Happy Wink
