Hi ladies. I had a follow up u/s today at 22 weeks just b/c they couldn't get a clear pic of all 4 chambers of the heart last time. They were able to get that today and everything looks perfect :) The tech knew we didn't want to know the gender so she was careful and had me turn away at one point. When it was over, I asked her out of curiosity if she could tell, and she said "yep" with no hesitation. This makes me think boy. I told my friend and she said that at 22 weeks it would prob be fairly obvious either way. I just know that with the boys there was no doubt. My question is, for those that have had u/s, was the gender easily seen with both boy and girl? I guess I just figured since she seemed so sure, it must be a boy. Any thoughts?

I think your friend is right :) At 22 wks, both genders would be obvious :) I wouldn't assume anything! Good luck!

Jess wants a princess

This happened to me at my 26 week u/s. I wanted her to check and write it on a piece of paper and I would read it at home. We didn't look as she did it and she was done in 3 seconds, I commented that she did that quick and she replied that it was quite obvious. I immediately assumed it was another boy or why else would she say that. When dh opened the envelope and read it was a girl I didn't believe him, I tried going back to see it for myself but they were closed so went back the following week as no teeny weenie!! So you just never know!! Good luck to you!!! :)

my girl was very obvious at 18 w 5 d and the tech was over 100% sure and also did not stay or linger in that region long at all. She seemed very sure girl and that's what I'm expecting to see in Sept!

My tech knew within3 seconds of me saying I wanted to know. And he told me that he was 150% sure she is a girl. EEK!

I'm still having a hard time believing it though. LOL!

For my last child, I had a scan at 16 weeks and two techs both said "girl" without a doubt.  I've only seen three ultrasounds but the "three lines" were all unmistakeable - much to my angst at the time :)  At 22 weeks I think gender in general is obvious. Sooo - 50/50 chance of either :)

So glad you have a health bub on board.

At 18+4, breech and with bum sitting so low they couldn't even see my cervix, my tech said within 5 seconds of checking "I can tel you even breech and low that baby is a GIRL!" a good trained tech who enjoys seeig those things can tell boy or girl so very quickly! You have an equal shot! I'm glad baby's heart looked so good!!

I was at only a 16.5 week gestation when my daughter's sex was seen. The tech didn't even have the chance to tell us what her gender was. As soon as the wand was placed upon my stomach, and the image appeared on the projection screen, my husband announced that our baby was a girl. Lol. She was spread eagle and it was VERY obvious what gender she was. I think things would be even more distinct at 22 weeks. It's very possible!
Good luck to you!

With DS1, we could see right away- he was spread eagled and there was no doubt....

When I had a scan at 16 weeks for DD, the tech said within 5 seconds that she was a girl. I would guess that if the tech gets the 'right' shot they will be able to tell the sex immediatly no matter what it is.
