you can buy them for 20$ or you can make one yourself.

To make one you need:

one Styrofoam bait bucket with lid,

One night light with long cord

tin foil

duck tape

a zip lock bag

a thermometer

first you make a hole in the side of the bucket and place in your night light (high watt bulb).  Then you line the entire thing in tinfoil.  Then cut a square out of the lid big enough to see threw.  The place the zip lock bag over to make a window and duck tape.  Then place in the thermometer and try it out. You want the temp to be about 99*

kind of like this one but without the wire mesh , the bowl or the fan (only need these if your are hatching chickens lol.)

Here is another one I found you can make:

Simple cardboard incubator
Use a large and small cardboard box. Cut one end from the small box. Cut a 15 cm2 window in a side of the large box. Cut a slit in the top of the smaller box and suspend an electric lamp in it by a long electric cord. Put the small box inside the larger box and pack newspaper between them. The open end of the small box must fit against the side of the large box with the window. Put a thermometer in the box where it can be read through the glass window

My husband has forbidden me to buy one too...lol.  Not because of cost, but he thinks he is the "king" of making the incubator.  We raise chickens (the ones with the fuzzy feet) and he has used both the styrofoam and box....i'll have to ask him if his were any different than these.

If we go high tech at home, he will be the "king" of the incubator.  I probably wont stand a chance trying to even watch the contents.....he will be so picky about temp and such.  Tamara, I think he wants to go this route instead of high tech (again not because of money) just so he gets to participate in some part of it he is more knowledgeable on...lol

I just add a cup of water that that is 99 degrees(check with candy thermometer) to help maintain the temp as well.
