Hi ladies, ------------------------ I was just wondering if some One Hit Wonders on here could chime in on their experiences. I don't have the financial means or emotional strength to handle multiple HT cycles, soooo.... just wondering what you did that reach your goal on first try. Of course, I know each person is different and will have their own odds, but it can't hurt to ask. --------------------------- - What clinic do you go to? - Which doctor? - Was Microsort used? - How many embryos did you have transferred (and that resulted in how many babies)? - Any other relevant medical info to share (meds, techniques, etc...). -----------Thanks so much!

My best advice is to be sure you're as healthy as possible before you go. I *thought* I was each time, and despite the 40% odds they gave me that IVF would take I was still able to have successful implantation each time (which is huge for most, many never even get their BFP). Be sure you are eating right, exercising (but not going crazy exercising) and have a clear mind. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the advice - makes sense. It's good that you had BFPs, but so sorry about your miscarriages. May I ask what clinic/doctor you went to again?

Hi there,

I apologize - I don't check this web site very often now days.  I don't have a siggie set up at this time (at least I don't think it will show up when I send this message), but I have two sons and a daughter who is going to be two in September.  She was concieved via high tech - IVF/PGD.  We went with Dr. Lin in Irvine, CA...and in my opinion, he is the best there is.  He is kind, compassionate, has the highest success record, and does some unique payment plans to help families have babies.  They also do all their PGD testing in their own in suite lab, so nothing is moved from that office.  Anyway, I guess that I would be consider a quasi-OHW.  I had to do two egg retrievals (did not get enough the first time, so we upped my meds, froze the first set of embryos, and did a second round).  So I had two retrievals and one embryo transfer.  We put in two perfect little girl embryos and  I got pregnant after the first transfer with both girls - twins!...we lost one very early on.  However, my perfect, beautiful daughter was born into our family nine months later.  She is our icing on the cake!  It's so possible and there was a time when I was in your position - with only the dream of a little girl in my heart.  And she is in her crib sleeping now.  However, I won't tell you that it's all a rosy journey.  It was the hardest time of my life - it's SO expensive, takes incredible time and energy, and is very emotionally draining because you have so  much on the line.  And the fear of failing was constantly with me during that time.  But, it was worth it all and obviously, I cannot imagine life without my little girl now.  I wish you the very best of luck on your journey and with all your big decisions.

I am a ohw and I cycled at Abington reproductive,my dr was Michael sobel,my protocol was low stim-I ended up with 10 embryos and gave birth to boy/girl twins in December 2011..i was told I had 2 females transferred-and clearly that's not the case but I did still get my dd..I would not recommend Abington even though I was a ohw simply because of the opposite and the difficulty I've had in communication with them about it.opposites are rare so I wouldn't worry about it but it did happen to me..Oh and genesis genetics was my genetics lab-I wouldn't use then either.after my transfer I didn't do anything different-in fact one of my 2 year olds at the time decided to climb up and use my belly as a trampoline-and I still had twins:-)!so good luck to you!!

Thanks for sharing and congrats on your family! The last part of your message is what makes me hesitate the most, especially since my GD is better now that DS2 is actually in my arms and also because I never really wanted more than 2 kids.... I am glad though that you say your DD is healthy because another reason why I'm hesitant towards HT is because of the "tampering" with the embryos - there already is tampering with regular IVF, but extra tampering with PGD. I actually saw a TV piece on HT recently and they say they remove a cell from the embryos to analyse it when they're 8 cells large. Now that's 1/8th of the embryo that is never "returned"? I guess that's the more scientific part which I don't quite grasp!
