We were scheduled for induction on May 9th, due to Jacks anticipated size. Got there at 6 am and they started the pit at 7. We had Tyler (3 yrs) with us, as well as my mom. I labored on the pit for 13 hours that day. Baby stayed too high for them to break my water, so no baby... Mr. Jack decided that he didnt want to be born on the 9th. They turned the pit off at 730 and I spent the night in the devilery room resting. Daddy took Tyler home to sleep. (Tyler was an absolute rock star all day and behaved like a little gentleman. I dont think Id have made it through 13 hours of unmedicated labor without him there to entertain and distract me)
May 10th, they started the pit again at 7am, and broke my water at 830. Daddy had taken Tyler to daycare this day, as the day before was a long day for him. Jack was still rather high, so I wasnt allowed out of bed or to even change position, for fear that he would prolapse his cord. I made it to about noon before I gave up on my plan of a natural birth and asked for the epidural. I just couldnt handle being strapped to the bed in one position anymore. For all the labor I had been in up to that point I was still only 4 centimeters (I came to the hospital the day before at 3cm, so that was pretty depressing). I fully dialated by 2pm, and Jack Robert was born at 2:32pm, weighing 9 lbs 12 oz (we think, the scale from the delivery room wasnt properly calibrated, so that is his 8 hrs after birth weight) and 22 inches long.
He was 4 days old when the portrait was taken
