NT scan on Wednesday and feeling very nervous...

Hi everyone, I have my NT scan on Wednesday when I'll be 13+2. I'm starting to get really nervous. I have studied the 'nub theory' and will be watching the screen like a hawk. Me and DH already have one daughter and for financial reasons this is definitely our last baby. I'm really hoping it's a boy (healthy baby is top priority). I'm sure I'll get a good indication at the scan of what I think the baby could be. I'm just conscious that if it's another girl my hopes of ever having a son will be gone forever and that makes me feel very sad. I am of course blessed to be pregnant and if it's another daughter I'm destined to have, she will be loved as much as her big sister. Pressure from my mother-in-law doesn't help either. She is convinced the baby is a boy, and has said she will feel very sad for DH if he doesn't have a son. This is even though my husband wants the baby to be another girl, and he has told my MIL this! Please send me your positive thoughts and plenty of blue dust. I'll update after my scan on Wednesday xx

Good Luck on your scan!! I watched mine like a hawk too, and still I did NOT see anything since she didn't focus on that area. She had never of of the nub and so she wouldn't even look!

I know exactly how you feel. I have a very unexpected nt scan scheduled for tomorrow and I know my tech will show me the nub if baby will allow it. My dh has swiched back and forth between saying "this is our last baby" and "well if this is a boy we can MAYBE try for one more." and although I would be very happy with three boys, I would be very sad I never had the chance to raise a girl. My mil is the exact same! She has four sons (no daughters) and she continually tells me how much she wants this to be a girl. It'll make it very hard to tell her if it is indeed another little boy. You can have all my blue dust!! I hope things go well for you on Wednesday! Good luck!

Thanks DreamingofXX. I'll probably come away from the scan being none the wiser. Do you have a scan pic you want me to guess on? Usa/Canada - how did your NT scan go? Although with the time difference you are probably having it about now. I can't wait to hear how you got on. I hope you get a scan picture too that we can all guess on. I'm really hoping my scan picture tomorrow will show a nub, but there is no way my hospital will let me request a nub shot (they won't even take a guess at gender at NT scan), so i'll just have to see what I get. Sending you lots of pink dust. Praying we all have healthy babies. I'll update tomorrow. So excited/nervous *gulp*

Hey sorry I didn't post earlier, after my scan I was out and about running errands all day. Of course my regular ultrasound tech was sick and the girl I had do my scan had no idea what a nub was. So my dh and I were left to see if we could find It on the screen (but we're both so inexperienced it was more just for fun) She gave us a couple pictures, none of which show the nub. Baby was doing great though; moving like crazy, hiccuping, waving, kicking, rolling over, so whatever the gender we have an active little bub on our hands! Now I just get to stress out til June when we will schedule our gender scan. Blessed, I hope you have better luck than me and Dreaming! Good luck today and I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get a good nub shot to share!! Praying for healthy babies as well!

I think my dream of having a son may be over :-( I only got a couple of glimpses at the nub but both times it was flat and appeared to be in line with the spine. Baby was very active and tech wouldn't look at the nub. DH agreed that the nub appeared flat. We got a picture but it didn't show a nub. Baby was healthy which is the main thing. I've been in tears most of the evening as I'm so disappointed I think my dream is over. So angry at myself for feeling this way as baby was super cute. I'm having a private gender scan in just over 3 weeks so i'll know for definite then. I haven't given up all hope, but I really am preparing to hear 'girl'. I know when she's here I'll love her as I do my first daughter, just sooo disappointed it looks like I'll never have a son.

Awww.. I'm sorry! You never know, it could still be a boy. It's not 100%! Just prepare for girl, and if you hear boy.. it will be even a sweeter surprise!

My anatomy scan is in one month, on June 18th.. and I am so terrified to hear "it's a boy" again.. but, I am starting to feel it's another boy so I am picking boys names out..

Hope our babies surprise us at our next scans!! Pray

Either gender, your baby will have a big sister and family that loves them to pieces! And not to mention baby is healthy, which is always good news! Thanks dreaming and USA/Canada I really appreciate your response and support. 2 weeks till gender scan. I'm preparing myself to hear girl, but haven't totally given up hope of baby being a boy, due to placenta location.
