And I'm doing....great! Happy Smile (WOW!) I mean 2 years ago a baby girl shower would've put me in the bathroom crying my eyes out, I don't know why I feel so neutral, but I'll take it! I took my DS3 and he got sooooo much attention (I think that helped). He rocked his cute little outfit! Hearts

Here's what he wore: (the shirt- pink polo)  http://www.carters.com/null/Short-Sleeve-Graphic-Polo-Style-Shirt/714442556994,default,pd.html?cgid=carters-tops-baby-boy-polos (and the shorts- you probably can't tell in the pic but the shorts have pink stripes in the plaid that match the pink polo shirt) http://www.carters.com/carters/Plaid-Cotton-Cargo-Shorts/V_224A127,default,pd.html?cgid=carters-baby-boy-shorts and he wore navy blue leather sandals. :)

There were 2 other girls there besides my bf who were also PG with girls....and it DIDN'T BOTHER ME!! Surprise I think if my DS hasn't been there with me I would've felt some jealousy but everyone was telling him how gorgeous he is, etc. I felt proud to be the one rockin' the boy (it was all girls and women) and proudly told everyone I had 3 boys. The only boy bashing (if you can all it that) that I encountered was from a grandma (she wasn't too old, in her 50's or 60's) who said she also has 3 boys (who are grown), 2 grandsons and now "a princess". The "princess" is the granddaughter...she was acting all negative about boys (I was sitting and eating at a table with her and 4 other ladies her age). I ignored it and just started talking about how my oldest makes me bracelets, draws me rainbow pictures (all true!), and how all of my boys treat me like a queen. That shut her up lol.All the girl moms were super sweet to me and my son, there was one grandma (again, in her 50's so not old) who was holding her little granddaughter and said with a pouty face "But don't you want a girl?!!" What kind of question is that? I always wonder what people are thinking when they ask that...of course I want a girl, dipsh*t lol! I just told her yes, I always wanted both genders (said with a smile) and left it at that.

My bestie got a LOT of gorgeous stuff, and yes, some of it I would die for I'll admit! But it didn't hurt me like it usually does. It was like "ohh that's cute!", next! You know how when people have phobias the therapist will make them face their fear head on so it doesn't seem scary anymore? Maybe just being surrounded by a big pink explosion shower was in a weird way therapy for me, I just got numb to it after awhile.

When I was eating at that table I told the ladies we were thinking about a 4th - they gasped and said "OMG!" haha- they said in their generation no one had more than 1 or 2. I loved getting that reaction for some reason. Devil

All this said, I hope and pray I'll be able to come to my bestie's dd's 1st birthday party next year PG with a girl. Love Ya!

Wow. That is awesome! I hope I feel the same way!  I have to go to one of my old bff's house next weekend, she is pregnant with her first girl, after having one boy already. Both were unexpected pregnancies. We didn't even think she'd ever have kids. Figures. Lol

Also, she is having a "Little Cowgirl" themed baby shower, and since we are both horse freaks and we both ride, and used to ride together when we younger..it's what I would have wanted for a baby shower theme.. and I am totally jealous of her and I am not even gonna lie. That's what I would have done for MY little girls baby shower.

But, I'm not and SHE is.

Lol  That might be the hardest part. Is that she is getting the "Little Cowgirl" and I'm not [:'(]

Oh well, I am still gonna go and be happy for her.  I hope.

Hi Dreaming!! GL with your bff's shower next weekend, I hope your little bean is pink and you get your OWN little cowgirl shower in 5 or 6 months! Happy I know how hard those themes can be...my bestie had a girl theme but it wasn't a theme I care for so I think that helped too.

You should totally get the outfit for your little guy! My oldest has it too, I'm thinking of getting it for DS2 so I can take a pic of them all matching. :)

That is great that it didn't bother you! And I'm sure your baby boy looked adorable!  Sometimes Grandparent ages can be the worst culprits.  I love when people say "Don't you want a girl?"  As if you choose your childs genders.  My mom's best friend has two sons and two granddaughters too.  Her husband was like, "I love having granddaughters don't you want a girl?"

But anyway, it's awesome that you were happy and it didn't bother you at the shower!  I hope I can be that way too.

TOTALLY agree! The lady who had 3 grown boys was acting so bitter when we talked about sons,it made me sick and bound and determined to NOT be like her if I never get a dd!

Whenever I hear this question I literally wanna answer "Nah" just to see their reaction lol.

Exactly what I was thinking! I'll answer that if someone asks me that (ok, it won't be true, at least not now anyway, but still want to shut them up)!

I also agree that sometimes older people can be the most tactless - like they lose a sensitivity chip with age! I certainly don't want to end up bitter either. In fact, I know older moms of all boys and they don't seem bitter to me so that's encouraging. When I told my kids would have a 6-year age gap, one older lady said bluntly "oh, the oldest will be very jealous". Uh, maybe a little, but actually, from what I hear and read, they're usually less jealous the older they get because they understand things more, are more independent, and have had their undivided attention for quite a few years. That's what I replied back.

About exposing yourself to something that is sort of a "phobia"(eg: girl clothes and girls period),bmy therapist mentioned that. I told her I just wasn't ready to do more exposing than every day life was already providing me with and was difficult enough. But the other day, I was a neighbor's house and she has a small home daycare. Well, I took one of the daycare kids in my arms for a while, a 1 year-old girl, and kissed her on both her chubby cheeks! I thought I was masochist doing that, but strangely, it was liberating and made me feel better! Weird huh? It's like little girls always seem so unattainable to me and right then, I was able to hold and kiss one without her parents seeing me! tI got me thinking that maybe (just maybe) having a small home daycare, babysitting kids a few hours a week (not full time, no way) would do me good eventually.... I dunno.

Very true! I think if you have a 4+ year age gap the older kids are actually excited about a new sibling (OR if they are really close together, like a year apart, and so don't really understand enough to be jealous)! My DS1 was 2y9m when DS2 was born and he was VERY jealous. But when I was PG with DS3 (and DS1 was 4.5 years old) he was ecstatic! :) Now at almost 6 he is constantly asking "when am I gonna have another baby in my tummy?). Happy Smile

Yes yes yes!!!!!!! This is it, I feel like little girls and all things baby/little girls is so unattainable, I feel so excluded from that club, and I think my best friend's shower and PG have strangely helped a LOT b/c she asked for my help with so much (she's a 1st time mom), from helping her register and giving her advice and her sending me u/s pics that say "Hi Auntie!!" etc, I feel so included, I feel some sort of ownership of this baby girl and love her already, if that makes any sense. It also helps that my bf is SO NOT the kind of person who thinks she's "better" b/c she's having a girl, she looooves my boys and truly wants me to get my girl so I'll be happy. This situation is soooo different than the random, run-of-the-mill girl baby shower/PG etc that sends me to tears and fits of jealousy!

Thank you mommyof3soon, I will GLADLY W/O A DOUBT take all of your pink dust!!! Happy Smile

I hope my post didn't ignite any GD in you or any other girl moms, it wasn't meant to... it's just so incredible that I didn't end up in the bathroom (at the shower) bawling my eyes out like I have other times. I honestly think a lot of it was WHOSE shower it was- my bestie, who I love more than anything and whose dd is gonna be like a niece rather than just some friend's dd, kwim?

All of this said, I still desperately want a little girl, I'm just happy this shower was a good experience. Agree
