So I will be 40 soon.I have 5 wonderful boys.No problems falling pg.Then we lost our first baby at 12weeks pg.Heartbreaking but we were told it was a one off thing that can happen. So we tried again.Fell pg again last feb only to lose the baby at 6 weeks.Fell pg again, this time I was monitored & all was going well.Great hcg numbers & great progesterone levels only to have a 12 week scan & the baby had passed away a few days earlier.I & the baby were tested extensively.Nothing found wrong with the baby or me.Got pg again at the end of last year but had a very early m/c again. My OB said not even to count that one.So here we are.I feel worried that it may never happen.I feel like my life is on hold because I am trying to fall pg before the big 40.I plan my year around what if's.It is so hard.

Is there anything I should be trying? I am on pg vitamins.I was on one that had CoQ10 but it gave me insomnia.I am also on extra folate. If I fall pg the OB wants me on prog. suppositries until 12 weeks as a precaution.

Any tips or advice is so appreciated.Heart

Hi there, I'm so sorry for all of your losses. My story is similar to your's, 3 mc's and 1 chemical (or very early m/c), although my losses never happened after 7.5 weeks. I had extensive testing done, upon my request and worked with an amazing specialist. Did you have any sonohystograms, and such to see if it's something going on inside your uterus? I had this done and they found what they thought was intra-uterine scar tissue (which I thought really strange since I'd never had an infection or a d & c). So, I then had a hysteroscopy (it's a day-surgery where they insert a hysteroscop which has a tiny camera to view the inside of your uterus to  see what's going on, and if anything is found, they remove it). Anyhow, they surgeon ended up removing a long polyp, which he said resembled scar tissue. Upon consultation with my doctor thereafter, she said it could have had alot to do with the m/c's due to it's positioning in the uterus. I went on to have a successful (albeit, stressful pregnancy. My specialist also prescribed baby aspirin and progesterone supositories until 12 weeks as a precaution. Other things I did included taking 100 mg of Vitamin i6 until 36 weeks, I did acupuncture until 14 weeks with an accupuncturist who specializes in fertility issues, I drank alot of water to prevent dehydration. Through all of this, I continued my regular routines and exercise program, such as jogging 4 times a week. I just limited my runs to 30 mins. I think thats it! If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

I wish you all the best. I remember when you went through your m/c in the summer. I was and am still heartbroken for you. I completly understand what you're going through. I also read quite a few books on the subject to further educate myself on the subject. One of my favorites was

Miscarriage, Medicine & Miracles by Bruce Young MD, and Amy Zavatto. I purchased it on Kobo with my e-reader. It's very informative and gave me alot of hope.

Good luck with everything. Sorry for the ramble!

Hi 5crazymnkeys, Bless your heart. Well I just saw this and thought I had something to say as well. I have been thru a roller coaster as well. I have been seeing a fertility specialist since December. he has checked everything under the sun. My thyroid....normal. But I know that can impact the incidence of m/cs. Have you had you thyroid levels checked? he put me on daily baby aspirin. My vit D.....very deficient. he immediately put me on Vit D 2000 IU daily, even though I was getting Vit D thru my multivitamins. he checked for lupus or anything autoimmune. i did test + for ANA, but we still dont know what that was, tested neg for lupus. he also checked my progesterone at various points of my cycle and I was very deficient, even though I should have had a little. So in January, I took hcg shots 3, 6, and 9 days after Ovulation to initiate my body tobmake progesterone which it did and my levels one month went to 53! Even the month I conceived I did the hcg shots, so my body had enough progesterone in it at conception which was important. This doctor does not do suppositories or creams, just injections when pg. The doc also did 2 ultrasounds to check egg numbers, lining of uterus, to check for polyps and scar tissue like pinkpanther said. i didnt have anything that looked abnormal. On another day he put saline in thru a syringe to check my tubes to see if there was blockage and did an u/s to watch the saline go into all the spaces of my tubes, ovaries, and uterus. he did find a little pinch enclosure on one tube, but wasnt worried about it. So all this to say, I think it came down to deficientcy in progesterone at the crucial time. I am still touch and go at this point in my pg, but the last progesterone went up to 18 so I was encouraged. All I can do is wait. I strongly believe the baby aspirin and vit D are helping too. Those are things you can do without a Dr. Telling you to do so. he also had me take the CoQ10 this last month when I conceived bc he said it helped with the attachment to the uterus. i was taking 200 mg twice a day. I hope this helps. What other things have you done? keep me posted. is it possible to see a fertility specialist or at least an endocrinologist to check all your levels? Thinking of you, Kristen

Thank you both for replying

I had extensive tests from infections to blood disorders, thyroid & even a special test for thyroid antibodies.Had my uterus & ovaries checked for scar tissue or polyps.Nothing was found. The baby was fine too.No chromosomal problems. All they can put it down to is age & egg quality. It is hard.I was on extra vit B but may try baby aspirin & extra vit D.My progesterone levels were super high while I was pg & I have had a hormone test while not pg & all my levels were within the normal range. It is hard having no answers.I wish I could take CoQ10..but I cant sleep on it.I am going to look into Chinese herbs & acupuncture.

You both give me hope.Love Ya!

I can totally understand tour frustration after going through all of the tests, and nothing coming up as the problem. On the one hand it's great that there is no diagnosed problem, but on the other you kindof want there to be a problem,  so you can solve it, then you'd feel a little more confident that it would not happen again.

My specialist recommended that I take DHEA, a supplement that has been proven to improve egg quality. I purchased it at a GNC store in the U.S. I took it for about 5-6 weeks before I conceived. My doctor said not to take it for long, and to stop as soon as I conceived. Sorry, I forgot to say I took this before, I forgot!

I know how difficult this process is. Good luck with everything and keep us posted.
