Right now I'm in the process of waiting for my miscarriage to happen. I'm devastated beyond belief, but trying to be hopeful and do something before I cycle again that may help. I'm desperate!!!

I've been taking prenatals, folic acid, calcium, and vit D 1000u. In my research to try to improve egg quality in my next cycle (this is my second failed IVF ~ I'm able to get pregnant, but for whatever reason, I miscarry.) I did a 5 panel PGD for each cycle as we're only looking for boys. Twins would be ideal, I'm miscarrying twins right now. So yeah, I'm devastated!

In my research I'm reading about having to take supplements for 90 days for best odds. Hubby took maca root powder for 6 weeks daily before our last cycle and I'm convinced that's the reason we got 5 boys out of 6 embies. The following I've read will aid in improving egg quality and quantity, but none have been scientifically proven. My feeling is, if anyone on a forum as tried them and successfully managed to get and stay pregnant, then there may be some truth in results.

Maca Root
Royal Jelly
Bee pollen
coQ10 (but not sure which one, I saw several types in Walgreen's today)
wheatgrass shots
Vitamin E
acupuncture
yoga
whey protein
fertility shakes
melatonin
soy

Then there's the no alcohol (not a concern, don't drink or smoke), eat an egg a day, high protein, high fat diets, no sugar, no white breads, whole grains only, exercising regularly (guilty of not doing this)

Since we only want to increase odds of egg quality and quantity and ideally create boys (swaying for boys, etc), what has everyone done along these lines? What have you tried and found to work? What quantities daily? What can I add to hubby's diet to increase healthy swimmers and less abnormals?

I'll be 41 before my next cycle, but I hope to start now (already started changing diet) and hubby will be 43. Yes, I'm feeling quite desperate now and that time is running out.
Thank you for your input!

Hi Tinks, I would also try 75mg of DHEA, micronized is best, my RE recommended it last spring when we were initially going through our pretesting, it helped with egg quality, as you age, your addrenal glands stop producing DHEA. I am 42 and it has given us not a ton of eqgs, but they seem to be of good quality. First cycle we had an excellent embryo, this time we had and excellent 8-cell embryo, the nurse was ecstatic both times, esp because of our ages. I also used the Royal Jelly/Bee pollen and the coq-10, as well as wheatgrass and of course prenatals, with an additional folic acid supp. We actually had one girl to transfer, I go for my beta's this weekend. Transfer was on the 6th of March, so hopefully this time it stuck. I have everything that I can cross for you crossed that next cycle will be the one.

Thank you!! I hope you get a sticky girl!!! That's wonderful news to hear. We generally get a decent amount of eggs, and they stick (oddly enough, not complaining!) but they just don't grow! Hubby insists he's not the problem (big news buster, you're "in training" too this next cycle! Good thing is, his nutritionist is on board with me ~ time to call her and co-ordinate foods).

Where do you buy dhea? I was in Walgreens yesterday and what they have for the other supplements is the bottled stuff, I want to get as organic as possible. I've got my son the health food nut helping me, but I didn't see dhea for sale. Is it a prescription thing?

I think you can get it at Whole Foods, GNC, I recently even saw at Walmart, but I think they may have the micronized one at GNC, I ordered mine online, I typed in micronized DHEA, it is in pill form, and you want to buy it at the 25mg amount and take it three times a day. Also, I added in acupunture too, as that helps with implantation and overall health of the eggs at least that is what I've read up on. I know alot a ladies have taken DHEA, but I read somewhere that the micronized kind absorbs in your body better. Ask you son, maybe he knows more about it, if he's a health guy.

Thank you fivecrazy, I'm sorry you've been through this too, too many times.

Hubby is on board with everything; we went to Whole Foods today to get info/price things out. This isn't going to be cheap! But in the long run, it's cheaper than paying for another cycle and going through another loss.

I started today 100mg coQ10, I work nights, so insomnia isn't an issue. I've also been changing my diet too.

Apart from the insomnia from Coq10, I found it gave me so much energy in the day & I felt so clear.I have all my fingers crossed for you.

I just picked 2 bottles (bogo) of coQ10 (400mg), I was doing 100mg 1x a day til I ran out. Does anyone know if taking 1 400mg over 2 x 200mg would be just as effective?

My son was floored by all the "healthy" foods now in the house (he no longer lives at home, but eats like he still is when he's home, lol). We do discuss healthy vits and stuff, but he's not familiar with everything that I'm using and what I'm trying to accomplish.

I did add in royal jelly/bee pollen in honey (YUM!!! My daily treat, lol) slowly adding stuff in. I ended up giving hubby too much stuff to take, it didn't agree with him, but he's at least eating healthy now.

Familiesr4ever, how did your transfer go?
