i chose no, but its not so simple. With my first two i didnt immunize because i heard all these scary stories about immunization causing autism, it was a hot topic at the time. (1999 and 2001) 6 years later i had my third child and i heard that the whole thing was a lie and i went ahead with the regular immunization schedule, at about 18 months my youngest was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. i always wonder if it was the immunization.... my doctor always believed there was a link and now he thinks shes just about proven it. but another doctor tells me its just a complete coincidence. i tell myself that its just coincidence too, mostly to make myself feel better. i mean 1000s of babies get the jab and theyre just fine right? but i am so torn and dont know WHAT im going to do with my next one.

Fluffy White Clouds - I'm so sorry that happened to you.  Don't beat yourself up - the autism stats are so high that odds are overwhelming the vaccination had nothing to do with it.  Good luck as you go for blue next!!

Of course.

It's the lesser of two evils in my mind.  It's much worse to have these eradicated illnesses come back IMO.  Plus I used to work with children with autism and many hadn't been vaccinated - I don't believe there is a link especially since you can see signs of autism when the child is only months old.

I've immunized ds1 and 2 fully and ds2 has severe autism so when I had ds3 I said no immunization cause I don't want any what ifs and I can pretty well guarantee that he is also autistic... So with baby number 4 I will be delaying as well I don't know for certain how long I will not be immu using against flu, chicken pox, rotavirus and others that I find quite pointless And I will also be delayi the mmr til school age unless there were to be some crazy outbreak Yes with ds3 I was a constant nervous wreck of him getting something but I don't regret it at all I think it was the best decision for our family

I love this thread and am very passionate on the matter. It is not a simple decision in my opinion of whether or not to immunize my kids. With my first 2 I did and didn't give it a second thought until after my middle daughter and it coming out that they might cause autism. We have many friends who have children who have autism and they all attribute it to immunizations. One of them is a speaker at my husband's school who talks about how his son was perfectly fine, got one of the 3 (or 4) in 1 shots and within 24 hours started regressing until he could no longer walk or talk and now has been diagnosed with severe autism. In the end, I felt I was equipped with enough evidence to decide that I would go forward with some immunizations. I decided I would only do individual shots and spread them out by at least a month. My last daughter was behind, but she is now caught up and I'm glad I did it this way. I truly believe that it's slamming a child's body full of so many at once that is the problem due to a child or baby's immature immune system and kidney and liver functioning and critical neurologic development occurring during this time.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Corinthians 13:13

Totally agree with cupcake and it has been very proven that dTap causes inflammation in the brain... And many of the people that don't think twice about immunizations don't know what's in the shots and don't know the actually risks to the shots and with ds3 the benifits did NOT outweigh the risks for me... And anyone with a severely challenged child would agree... To me it seemed like I lose if I do and I lose if I don't so I want to strive for a neourological normal child because ds2 will never have a bit of normalcy in his life ever! I don't think shots are really to blame but as a parent of disabled boys really u don't know and your gonna do whatever you can to control it
