I had my ultrasound yesterday and found out that we are having our long awaited little boy :)! After the ultrasound the tech scheduled me for 4 more ultrasounds to watch his growth. This concerned me because I have never had this happen before. I asked why do I need so many ultrasounds. She told me because a test result from my screening showed that I have "lower protein levels for your placenta". I dont know what that means. I called my midwife and she tried to explain what the tech was talking about. She told me one of the results from my screening showed lower protein levels which put me at risk for preterm labor and the baby having issues growing and other things. I don't know what other things she was talking about. She mentioned that my placenta looks great and our son is "growth wise" right where he should be for my dates. She also said that they didn't see any defects yet. YET. Okayyy.. She mentioned that the ultrasound can't show everything but that so far things look okay. Well, I'm worried. I asked if there were supplements I should take and if so what they are. She said no that there isn't really anything I can do about this, that it isn't that type of protein.
What I am getting at is that I am still very worried. I still don't quite understand what everyone is talking about. I don't know what "other things" the ultrasound wouldn't show. And, has anyone else been told this stuff? What am I to expect. Should I be worried??? I already am worried... but do I need to be worried... ugh I can't stop thinking about this.
