Anyone ttc a girl while using clomid & trigger shot?

Hi. My DH & I have just started trying to conceive again. We have twin boys (3) who were conceived using clomid, and recently lost a girl at 18 weeks gestation that was conceived naturally. We were gutted but can't get the thought of having another baby girl in our arms. I do not ovulate myself regularly due to PCOS, and so am using clomid yet again with trigger shots. Because of this I am being closely monitored to avoid multiple follicles that would potentially result in more than 2! I am happy to have twins again (as long as one is a girl), but 3 would push it.. ha ha. I know Shettles suggests having sex 2-3 days before O, but unfortunately I don't have this luxury as a scan is usually done and assuming all good to go, trigger shot is given and I O within 36 hours. I don't want to try theory where you bed after ovulation, as I think its too risky seeings and don't want to waste a cycle knowing Ive only got a few left till having to stop the clomid. So, my question is: has anyone tried to conceive a girl while using clomid and not able to bed 2-3 days before O? If so what did you do? Any advise would be great! P.S. I am taking supplements of calcium, mag & cranberry as well as folic acid. DH & I are doing most of the girl diet, but more focussed on steering clear of certain foods. Caro

Angie, in your case I would leave away timing! Clomid sways girl as it is and you can take the supps and change your diet accordingly (check out hte FAQ here, you will find all the information on the 7 swaying factors, timing is considered the least important one by many).

Sorry to hear about your loss so far ahead in the pg in particular. I hope you will hold your little girl or girl twins in your arm soon xxxxxxxxxx

I'm so sorry for your loss. We are a clomid couple as well. Our son was conceived through clomid and metformin, but we also (unknowingly) did a lot of boy sway factors as well so I'm not at all surprised we had a son. I am not planning on concentrating on timing too much in our sway. We had such a hard time TTC DS that I can't really risk the timing thing with us. It's hard enough for us to get pg as is! I'll be concentrating on supps, diet and ions and will be checking Ph all the time around O time. Hopefully that will do it. Good luck!!!

Thanks so much. I do hope that it's true that the timing isnt the be all and end all in conceiving a girl. We were not trying for a specific gender when we conceived the girl we lost, so i dont remember what we did to get her! DH and I are doing most of the diet, and both taking supplements. We are also trying DH having a hot shower before bedding, and to use shallow penetration & me not orgasm ;(. ha ha. thanks for your kind words re losing our angel. it was by far the hardest thing i have ever been through and we are still working through it 6 months later. we focus on the fact that we were able to hold her in our arms - even just for a few minutes. i too hope i get my DD (or DD's) soon. regards caro
