I'm kind of thinking about it too. I'll turn 40 later this year, and I always told myself I'd be done with newborns at 40, so I'm not sure. I'd have to be sure I am Ok with five boys if it didn't work. But that was before I knew about all this hard-core swaying stuff and O+12 to try for a girl (yes, I know it is far from a guarantee). My third was a failed Shettles, done to a T, and my fourth, looking back, was also a failed Shettles timing, albeit unplanned. I'd been told all about Shettles, but not that it didn't work. A friend of mine swears that is how she got a girl after having 3 boys, then she had another boy after the girl. Maybe one last try...however, I'm still breastfeeding my fourth, haven't had my fertility come back yet, and I am not going to quit just to TTC (I let them choose when to wean). So some aspects of the diet may be out. I can cut red meat and increase dairy though, and looking through the girl cookbook, there is plenty in there a BFing mom can eat. Some of the supplements might not be appropriate either.

Hey ladies! We're not going to be TTC for awhile since my youngest is only 6 months. But we're thinking and planning for it! We are going to sway for a girl. :) Since this is probably our last baby I'm really hoping that it works!

lovingmy2seeking3 - I am also trying for a girl (after two boys), I am trying to stick to the diet as closely as possible, I ended up in hospital last week with severe constipation (made worse by some damage l had done previously to my coccyx), after almost a week of sitting on icepacks, not being able to drive, stand, sit, hold my boys I am definitely not going through that again. So l have had to ease up a bit. 1 kiwi fruit a day added in... and I have my dinner prepared a couple of times a week so on those days l try to avoid everything l know is a no no, like potato, but l eat what l am given. The meals l am in control over l try and be very strict. I am really struggling with testing my PH, is anybody else? I bought the strips and l wasn't getting a reading, so l went out and bought a PH meter, not the one recommended on here (it is difficult to obtain in Australia), but another, I don't know if l am getting enough of a sample to test, in fact l am pretty sure l am not, anybody got any tips? I am taking the supplements religiously, drinking milk, and eating yoghurt - not eating all my favourite foods, having any alcohol or caffeine, not adding salt to any of my food, and trying to avoid anything that may be salty - its challenging.

I'm glad to have found this particular blog! I just recently had a beautiful baby girl...she is the world to me! Hubby and I are hoping our 2nd child will be a boy...if  the baby is, we will be done having kids!  Not sure when we will start again, but it looks like the Summer of 2013. I just started back with classes, so hopefully I can finish my degree before #2 arrives. We didn't do any swaying method with our first ( all we cared about was having a baby, regardless of gender!) but will for sure do the boy method when we are ready to ttc# 2. I am pretty nervous about it, to be honest. It seems so complicated; diet, minerals, ph, timing, etc. Im trying to get a head start by educating myself on the method now. When I go to the grocery store, I already find myself looking at the different minerals, to familiarize myself with what I will need to take! As it is, I think my husband would prefer to wait a little longer than me before we start trying again for our second. I pretty much convinced him we need to start in the Summer of 2013...I don't want there to be that huge of an age gap between my first and second.

Baby Girl2011 and hoping for a Baby Boy one day to complete our family!

Noodle29- I am having the same problems with not being able to get into the forums...it keeps telling me: page not found/error etc. So, I just go through my account and click on " personalize forums" and thats how I can get in.

I wonder what went wrong. Very strange i must say as it never did this to me in the past. Oh well let me try your method and see if it works :) hopefully it will be quicker than my way. Thanks ;)

I am also breastfeeding at the moment also and don't want to cut my son off before he is ready to wean (he is 16 months).  I know it says you shouldn't sway while breastfeeding but I and a few other ladies on here believe it is ok to loosely sway.  I will be starting to ttc a girl in Oct/Nov 2012.  I won't be really strict on the diet but will only have chicken/lamb as meat, increase dairy, no potatoes/tomatoes/tomato based sauces/bananas.  Low salt intake.  The foods I have eaten my whole life have been high potassium/sodium and low mag/cal so the changes I make I believe will make a significant difference.  I have been looking into foods that contain potassium and there are other vegies out there that are low in potassium so I will be adding those to my diet.  Will prob do the french gender diet and thought that during the 2ww I might have a few more things.  I will be doing cardio exercise (haven't exercised a day in my whole life) to increase progesterone as well as using a progesterone cream but b/f also sways girl.  Hubby will be on all vitamins including lr to decrease testosterone and doing diet also as loosely as I do it.  I have had my AF for nearly 10 months now and it is regular to a tea.   In regards to supps, I cannot take saw palmetto or vitex (but don't need vitex anyway and b/f also does similar to sp, not sure about the pre ov temps though), heard that cranberry supps are out too but a few women on here are b/f and taking it but my dr said to just have cran juice instead but info on net bascially says cran supps are safe for b/f women but it just hasn't been tested, a low dose after a feed should be ok (was told this by the chemist - my son is on 2 feeds a day so I can prob do that now).  I believe as long as you make changes to your lifestyle/diet/do supps (what you can), then you have a really good chance.  I will do the opposite of what I did to have my boys and have gone ion crazy (before IG I couldn't even have told anyone what an ion was and even thought I would throw the moon into the mix too (have never believed in that before but it can't hurt, lol)).  Plus I know that babies will get all the nutrients they need from you whether you have a good diet or not, the mother gets whatever is left over so baby won't suffer.  Good luck.

Hi Harleyq,

I am in Victoria and I go the hanna ph meter from Amazon for $39.  I also have the Hanna warehouse about 15 mins from my house and they have just reduced their prices by 25% and they supply the meter (new price is $52 I think) and all the solutions you need for it.  I know that some strips work better than others and if you aren't getting a reading on the strips it can be because you might have low ionic strength, Tamara suggest having a ratio of 2:1 with your cal/mag supps and this will prevent low ionic strength but with a digital tester you don't need to worry about lis.  Have you tried  Sorry TMI Warning sticking your finger up your ###### and hooking your finger to kind of drag it out.  Sometimes I don't get much but you can still get a cotton bud and swip it all off your finger and test it that way.

Hi

Definitely TMI (sorry), but I just put the ph strip inside for a minute or two and then whip it out! I did wonder whether that was a bad idea - maybe there are chemicals in the strip?

Not sure as I don't use the ph strips, you could try inserting a cotton bud up there so that it reaches your cervix as you want to get the ph of your cervical area not the entrance.  Sounds kinda gross putting your finger up but it is suggested in FAQ as we need to know the cervical position and texture also.
