very scared of having my 4th ceasarean!

Hi, I haven't been on here in ages!!! I guess I have accepted the fact that I am having my 4th DS and will never have a daughter.  I was hoping that someone here can give me some advice on having a 4th c/s.  My 1st was an emergency and so quickly it was all over which was fine, the 2nd was a nightmare, I have scholiosis (curved lower spine) and it took them 3 and half hours to do the epidural with 13 needle marks and a huge bruise ( it was very traumatic) so with the 3rd I was most scared of that happening again so I had chiropratic adjustments to straighten my spine and they did a spinal which took half hour and 3 needles (much better than the 2nd!) but I really didn't want to be in the theatrre room at all last time, I just wanted to sleep, didn't even really want to see my bub till I was in recovery, I felt like vomiting whilst on the table and the oxygen mask I kept ripping off coz I felt I couldn't breathe with it on.  Iv'e seen too much in the theatre room and now am debating a general anesthetic which isn't the "preferred" option for doctors but they do them.  I just don't want to be there at all, infact I don't want to go through any of it again (bit late now with 3 weeks to go!) I am seeing the anesthetic department tomorrow to discuss all of this and hope that they can give me some confidence and help me make a decision. I am so scared of it all and feel selfish for wanting to not be awake as it has some risks but I know I will be distaught on the table and in the back of mind I am also feeling like all this just for another boy!  I suppose I still have some GD lerking hey!  Thanks for listening and any advice, I hope this section was okay for posting my worries!  

I am so sorry you are that scared ,but I  have never been through a c-section to offer you any advice. ((((Hugs)))) with your decision ,and I would talk to your doctor and explain all of this to them.

I just wanted to say I hope all goes well wi ur c section and that u aren't too nervous when it comes to it .... I have only had 1 section wi my first son so have no advice wi regrds it but i'm sure the consultant will do what he thinks best it's bad enough havin to gety the needle in once never mind 13 times .....

\wi regards to ur gd it'll be so worth it to get ur healthy ds and ul love him so much when u see him I really think the uncertainty of pregnancy really makes gd worse as there's always the hope that the scan was wrong but I assure u as soon as my wee pet Finn was born all thoughts about hinm bein a girl just vanished xxxx

if i have another baby , it will be my 4th C- Section as well. I think that if you are in good health overall, and the doctors think it is safe, there is nothing wrong in having general anesthesia, if you had all theseproblems with epidurals aand spinal. Also, I know a lady who had 5 C- sections and I heard of others who had more. Sen. Robert Kennedy's widow, Ethel, allegedly had 11!  So, hang in there, and Good Luck.You will love this baby like all the others. Maybe you really make special, beautiful boys, that is why God gave you so many. That is not to say that you won't have a DD at some point as well!

Elene I was thinking of a 5th when I found out this is a boy but have now decided I am done! I will be getting a tubal liagation and just know in my heart and body that I can not do this to myself again!  The GD I have suffered with DS2, DS3 and this one has been a real hard rollercoaster and physically it is so draining to be pregnant with other children! I can not nap, I can't keep as organised as I'd like it's just HARD! I know too that I can't go through theatre again either! So I have accepted that this is final for me and look forward to feeling good again and getting on with life, for me and my boys!

I am glad to see this post because I have been worrying too about having so many c-sections.  Although my worry is not with the needle, but with my uterus/scar tissue issues.  I have heard things about ruptured uterus' and placental "something" and I'm a bit scared.

Well I saw the anesthesist and he said that after reading through my notes I am more than deserving of a general and things should go fine, so that has made me feel better but also selfish too.  I am getting very anxious still and nervous about it all and very uncomfortable too! I can not wait to feel normal again and just meet this little guy and get on with life! I am in agony and very teary and hormonal! [:'(]

I will be having my fourth section this time around as well, and have also decided this will be my last baby because I feel all the surgery and pregnancy and having other children to chase while pg has really taken a toll on me.   I am already getting nervous about the surgery. 

I'm glad that your dr. has cleared you for a general.  I hope that all goes very well for you, and that you have your best childbirth experience yet.  :)
