? I have a question about tubes in ears ? swim caps ~ photo also

 

 Hey ladies,

    So my boys have had 12 surgreis, that's 4 each with tubes in their ears. We've been to ENTs in AK, WA, and DE. And no two views are the same on any of it. But my oldest (age 11) has had the worst of it his whole life and the docs keep saying "he'll grow out of it" and he still has them in his ears. It seems the min. their ears touch water they have an ear infection the very next day. My middle boy (age 9) his tubes have fallen out (last year) and the youngest (age 6) still has one tube. I am SO CHICKEN to let the middle one swim with out his swim cap, bc i don't want to deal with an ear infection. Have any of your kids gone through this and when did you find it safe for their ears to get wet and did they grow out of it. THANK YOU!!!! xXx

 thought i'd also post a photo of the girls. So far the baby has only had one ear infection in her life. At the pool yesterday i kept her hat on her to detour others from splashing and it worked. My oldest daughter had ear infection after ear infection as a baby, but never had tubes.

 

My 7 yr old had tubes put in when he was 18mths old. They both fell out but one hole didn't close over. It has been a nightmare of ear infections ever since. We use ear plugs, bathing caps and ear bandits. DS just had an operation to close the holes as he doesn't need the tubes and we wanted to close the hole and stop the ear infections. I will find out on Friday whether the op was successful. But it looks like he has another ear infection so it probably hasn't worked *sigh* so over doctors and ear infections! I have tried the ear bandits when the boys were young...in the bath. Now they shower on their own and are very careful. As far as the holes, the ENT here said he could remove my oldest boys tubes (since they've been in for over 3 years now) but he'd have to close the holes. He recommended we wait it out another year and see if they fall out, since one was still in place and another moving outward. He never mentioned holes in the other boys ears. But i will def. be asking at our next check up in July! Please keep in touch and let me know how it goes for your kido:) xXx

My 5 year old daughter had undergone surgery a year back. I always make sure that she wear junior swim caps whenever she goes for swimming. The doctor has advised us to wait for 3-4 more months for the tubes to fall out on their own.

 I thought i would pop in:) My boys tubes did fall out and one boy had his removed. They have been swimming all summer with out plugs and caps and are doing wonderful......no more ear problems here  xXx
