 its funny because I would have gave my left leg for a girl(and still would) and so many dont want one...

What is even worse, this has reached America already. I sometimes take a stroll through my local Chinatown and the fact that sex-selective abortion is done there is evident. Little boys far outnumber little girls. A study done 15 years ago in California has already confirmed this. It must be even worse now, with the improvement of ultrasound technology, & private ultrasound offices when they can tell the sex with fair certainty at 12+ weeks.

When I was pregnant they had a policy of not revealing gender at my hospital because it serves the large local Indian/Pakistani community. The technician told me how these women begged her on their knees (literally) "tell me please tell me that I'm having a boy"! And these are often well to do people...so its not like they cannot afford dowry.

Anyway this makes me feel bad for wanting a boy because it puts me in the same company with these nuts ,

This is interesting to me considering that everywhere I go it seems like boys are completely devalued in this society these days. Everything is now for girls- rows & rows of "girl" or "unisex" toys, racks & racks of girl clothes, & even names are now all becoming "unisex" or "girl" names. 

And even if you tell someone you are having a boy, 9 times out of 10 they give you a look like you just told them you have cancer. And the second you have a boy, people immediately ask you- "Are you going to try for a girl?"

That being said, I would love to have a little girl, & I can't believe there are people out there who would abort a baby based on gender. 

It's horrible for this to be happening in this day and age, my question is what would India expect to happen if their country became all male

 Extremely sad and completely disgusting.They don't know what they are missing. Baby girls are a gorgeous ray of sunshine in this world.

It puts GD in general in a bad light.

It is yes, so sad to think baby girls are either aborted or neglected once born but i am half Asian and they think a brings status, wealth and many other good attributes. I don't know if any of this has had an impact on my GD but probalay i'de say. Yes, to the lady who spotted it, even in Chinatown boys outnumber girls. So sad we can't just choose then at least they wouldn't be aborted. Just my

 Does anyone think that the American society does the same thing for boys?  I don't think it's as blatent but I do think we do it in little ways.

This may sound completely backwards, but I think boys are devalued, but in the same sentence alot of people look at you as a failure for not producing a son... in my opinion everything is geared toward girls when it comes to clothes, decor, and even photography, I was just telling my friend how the photographers in my area have gorgeous newborn girl pictures and the boys are just average
