Well she's still in there and growing. 6 days ago at the last scan (I was 7w5d) they told me she was 5.5mm and had a HB of 116, which means she was measuring 6w1d. 11 days behind. Today (at 8w4d) she is 11.5mm, has a HB of 144bpm and is measuring 7w3d. So still 8 days behind. Problem is that the gestational sac is small. She is taking up most of the space in the sac. The sac's dimensions have grown from last week. The length is up from 15 to 20mm. The other two dimensions have grown a couple of mm's as well. But I googled 'small gestational sa'c on google and the prognosis looks pretty dire to me. Seems to be a lot more miscarriages than happy outcomes. Waiting for the Ob to get the ultrasound report and call me. Also have a call in to Dr Lin to see if he has any insight to reassure me (or otherwise). This is a bloody long hard slog. MMx

Our IVF/ICSI twin XY (2.5) (OHW)

TTC XX. Cycle 1 (Dr Lin): ER 14 Jan 5 eggs, 4 mature and fertilised w/ ICSI. 2 probe. 2 XX, 2XY. Put back a BB hatching blast and a Grade 1 early blast on 20 Jan.
5dp5dt - BFP. 9dp5dt - 64. 13dp5dt - 81 Stop meds. 19dp5dt - 330. 22dp5dt - 890. Ectopic? Blighted ovum? 3 scans show small empty sac not progressing.
Final scan before D&C at 7w5d shows HB 116 & a 5.5mm embryo estimated to be 6w1d. At 8w4d HB 144 & fetus 11.5mm, a week behind. 9w4d - no HB.....

Thanks for updating us. This is such a tough situation. I hope you'll get some more definitive answers soon, although I fear you may be in a rather long waiting game, with no idea of the outcome. I will continue to cross my fingers for you and your tiny girl. I hope she will be one of the miracle stories that are repeated on IG again and again. I know it must feel impossible, but hang in there and hope for the best.

Hi MM, thinking of you, hang in there. I hope you get some answers soon on what is going on and what happened. So it's the sac? Is there anything the drs can do? Hoping you will have your baby girl, thinking of you.

No word from Dr Lin as yet but my Ob says he wishes sonographers would shut up. He says he used to be in the camp where he thought sonographers refusing to say anything was unduly frightening and freaked patients out but now he thinks the opposite!!

He says the report he has says it's a normal pregnancy - and he says to trust what the Dr paid to interpret the scan pics says as he has all the qualifications and letters after his name - not the sonographer...... So he basically said don't stress see u next week! At that point she should be big enough for him to see with his ultrasound machine and I wont have to go to the specialist ultrasound clinic except for milestone stones (12wks, 20wks etc) IF I make it that far.

We talked briefly about the sac - measurements in mm are 20 x 8 x 14. He wouldn't say that was small but he didn't say that it was perfect either.

I felt a bit like I was being fobbed off - just another neurotic ivf mum-to-be - well thats probably a bit harsh but he was clearly trying to avoid engaging in debate if u know what I mean. Which is probably fair enough given he doesn't have a crystal ball and can't predict what's going to happen. ARGH! I can't believe I have another long 7 days before I get any more news. It feels like the torment will never end.

Hi MM, I have to agree with your dr. A friend of mine who is pregnant and was sent to the sonographer early in her pregnancy due to cramping and spotting, that tech took an hour to do a vaginal u/s and she had to lift her back because the tech kept saying she needed a better view and kept saying she was measuring at 5 weeks (my friend was at 7 weeks) and couldn't find the hb, blah blah. So a few days later, my friends ob found the hb in less than 1 min. and she was measuring at 7 weeks and 2 days! There's no way the baby grew that fast, something was definitely off with that tech, not even sure how she got her job?? I'm sure not all techs are that bad but try not to worry too much (I know it's hard). You are pregnant right now and she is growing, hang in there. I hope by next week, your dr will be able to clear everything up and bring good news. Fingers crossed for you. Hugs

I can only imagine what a roller coaster ride you arer on at the moment, talk about playing with your emotions! I too think that 'she' is meant to be, she's a little fighter and continuing to grow, I have a feeling this is all going to turn out well, try to relax and keep us posted, we are all rooting for you xx
