Ok ladies, I need to lose 15 pounds in order to be in my brother's wedding on July 8th.  I had to order my dress while I was pregnant and now I need to drop the pounds.  The problem is that I am still nursing and have a very sensitive milk supply problem so I am afraid to cut calories too much.  I have ten weeks and need a plan.  I am doing ab exercises but my biggest part is around my chest.  I don't see losing weight there until I stop nursing.  I am kicking myself for not ordering a bigger dress.  My soon to be sister in law convinced me that the dresses ran large.  Well I tried one on last week (the dress wont arrive for a couple more weeks) in  the store and it was a few inches from zipping up at the back.  Yes, I'm freaking out!  If it was anyone but my baby brother, I would probably back out of the wedding.  HELP!!!

Well, the first thought that comes to mind is to call and see if you can switch dress sizes, since the dress hasn't come in yet. The company might charge a little more, but it would likely be worth it.  You could also see if another lady participating in the wedding has ordered a size that is too big & instead of having it altered, trade dresses. Believe it or not that is what happenend to me this Dec. for my sister's wedding! Another brides maid had ordered her dress too small, (A size 12 instead of a 14) and I was, what 6+ months preggo?, and had over ordered in size...a 14 to be on the safe side so we just traded dresses & it all worked out.

Also, you should be loosing quite a bit of weight just by breast feeding. (It's great when you don't have to do much and the baby just sucks it off you!) I'd call and ask your doctor if you can even excercise yet AND if doing so would hurt your milk supply, BUT if he/she says it is ok, I recommend doing an activity...like walking on a treadmill or an eliptical machine...where you sweat for 10-15 minutes two times a week...no more than 3. AND STAY HYDRATED!!! Being in the sustained sweat for 10-15 min twice a week really helps kick up the metabolism and burns calories...but I would DEFINITELY ask your DOCTOR first.

Good Luck & Worst case cenaro, find a creative seamstris who can enlarge the dress for you! Whatever happens, weddings are lucky & it will all work out! Best Wishes!

P.S. It is dangerous to loose more than a pound a week.

Thanks for the tips.  I already asked about ordering a new dress.  They would only order a new one and have me pay for the second full price.  We are already spending thousands on the wedding because it is in ORegon, so that wasn't flying.  I have started walking, but need to kick it up this week.  I think if I walk a few times a week I'll see more progress.  The frustrating part is that I am one of those people who can never get a good sweat going.  I could walk hard for 45 mins and still not break a sweat.  Iam not sure why this is a problem for me.  My husband sweats just looking at the treadmill.

The other bridesmaids are little size 0 women.  It makes me feel old and huge (even though pre-preggo I'm not).  The bride ordered 4 inch heels for us to.  I look totally stupid walking in the things, but my DH thinks they're kinda sexy (he's not the one wearing them).  Then my brother tells me that I have to walk down a spiral marble staircase in them!  I swear the video will show me wiping out and falling down the stairs.

Anyway, I am probably going to have to get some creative alterations done, but I want to try to get down as low as possible before that point.  Thanks for the help!

I'm jealous that you are going to Oregon this summer! I grew up there, and I haven't been back in a couple of years.

With your doctor's blessing, I would definitely try something a little more strenuous than walking. Yes, walking is great exercise, but if you need to lose weight a little faster, you'll need something else. I recommend cycling, either on a stationary bike at the gym or riding outside on a real bike. (I admit to being biased, though. I love riding my bicycle!) If you feel comfortable running, that may help, too.

I also recommend practicing walking in high heels!

I feel for you!  I find it impossible to lose much weight while I'm nursing.  Don't know why, it just seems that way.  I was in a similar situation last fall when I was about 3 months pregnant.  I was in a wedding down in Augusta, GA and came close to not fitting in my dress that I'd gotten before I realized I'd be pregnant for the wedding.  You might be ok.  You've got 2 whole months and you'll be surprised how you'll shrink in that amount of time.  If it comes down to it, and the dress is still too small, go see a good seamstress.  There are lots of ways they can let dresses out an inch here and there and it would probably be enough to get you in the dress.  Then, on the wedding day, try to keep cool.  When you sweat, your body seems to expand a bit.  I lucked out...at the wedding I was in, they had it downright frigid in there which made my slightly snug dress fit perfect.  Everyone else's were a little loose.  Good luck!  Jill

My sister in law lost all her baby fat weight plus more in about 3 months!!!! she is an OBGYN and told me the secret behind it .... lots and lots low fat/non fat yogourt.  may be one pot a day or so , decrease fruit intake and eat veggies and lots of water. she has a 14 montsh old and still has milk !!!! she exclusively breastfed her baby up to one year of age and she still has milk! baby is about 14-15 montsh now (very healthy, happy, chubby little boy).  i am going to a wedding early August too, so i will be trying her recommandations.

good luck

Preggo jill-  What are the names of the people that you stood in the wedding for last winter?  I met a couple on a cruise that were getting married last winter that live in Agusta, Ga.  I cant for the life of me remember their names.  I know that the guys bestfriends name is Mark Halloway and he was to stand in the wedding.  Darn this mommy mind.  I am so forgetful now that I have two....

Melissa:  Their names are Hope and Darren.  I don't think they went on a cruise, though.  Hope reminds me so much of Raylene on this site (from what I've seen of her in the news clip).  They look alike and talk alike.

When I was nursing my last son I went to weight watchers.  They have a plan for nursing moms.  I also did Windsor Pilates,  the best thing ever.  My body had never looked so good.  Good luck!

Thanks girls for all the advice.  I may end up stopping nursing soon :-(  I have had every problem in the book and now cannot get her diapers to stop being green.  I am calling lactation today to try and get more advice.  I just cannot keep pumping every feeding.  With a infant and two year old it's not possible.  I have tons of frozen milk so I think I'll pump two times a day and maybe feed her once a day.  Then I can mix the fozen breast milk with her formula for a few weeks longer.  I am concerned about her not getting enough fat and having lots of gas from the bad poop.  I am so emotional about it because it has been such a battle to be able to feed her. I love nursing her, but it's not fun when she screams during it.  Anyway, I'll let ya'll know what the lactation specialist says today.

About the weight lose....I started riding the stationary bike yesterday.  I'll keep doing that for a while.  Keep the tips coming!! Thanks.
