I found a gender scan place about two hours away that does gender scans beginning at 15 weeks. I had a bad scan at 15w with DD3, but keep in mind the sonographer was not a typical OB sonographer. He worked in a family practice and was a friend and offered to take a peek. He told us boy 100%, which changed to DD3. My family is wanting to go to this place as early as next week to see the baby and find out what it is. I just want to see the baby. I don't want to know gender. DH is also against going because of our results last time. But I would think this would be different than last time since they're trained to determine gender so early.

 Next Wednesday I will be 16 weeks, which would make things somewhat better. But my dates may be off by as much as a week going by my first ultrasounds. (On the last ultrasound baby was just two or three days off. On the ultrasound Friday evening in the ER he/she was just about on target.)

 What would you do in this situation?

I'd go to the elective place and find out, last time like you said that wasn't really a typical tech so with this place you'd have a bit more certainty.

 Well, I'm in the same boat as you, I'll be 15 weeks and a day going by my estimate, but I'm totally doing it anyway!  I know it can be inconclusive, but I'm dying to know so I'll be going on the 29th.

Well if you truely just do not want to know, then don't find out. However, if you do then I would definatly go. After getting NO nubs on my san today I am thinking of going in 3 weeks, maybe two if they will do it at 15 weeks. Good luck!

I would wait until next Wednesday. I think 15 weeks is a little early to find out gender, though I know a lot of times people can tell then. 16 weeks will be more reliable, especially with an experienced tech. If you aren't desperate to find out gender, then it seems like it would be better to wait just a little longer so you can feel more comfortable about a gender guess if you decide to get one. Plus next Wednesday isn't that long to wait anyway!

 Well, I booked my appointment for a different place that's way closer to us. Plus it's cheaper and the entire ultrasound will be in 4D! It's January 29th at 11 am.

Lol. I got your email. The lady told me this morning she can't keep from telling me if the baby opens it's legs just right and I see or if we see something floating. I told her I'm pretty nervous either way so it's not like it's gonna matter. If it's a girl, okay, I'll believe it. I'll wonder how we got four girls in a row, but it'll be okay. If it's a boy, I think I'll be in denial until birth.

As long as the tech knows what they are doing and baby cooperates 16 weeks should be fine :) Sending lots of blue dust to you

Thanks BabyBleu! I'm super excited to be going so soon. I really don't care what I get this time. As long as it's healthy I'm okay. But a boy would be pretty awesome.  I'm not even gonna lie about it.

Lucky!  I wish I was going to find out that soon.  I was asking for opinions, and a lot of people said it was better to find out before your 20 week ultrasound at one of those places so you could enjoy it more if you don't get the gender you want.  So I really want to do it, but it's $60 and 1 1/2 hours away.  I don't think my DH would agree to do it.  :-( 

 DH's not liking it that I'm doing the scan. The usual price of it is $150, but the lady is having to move to another state and all services have $25 off right now. Not a great price, but it's completely in 4D, we get a dvd, as many pics as we want, everything. I'm still trying to convince myself it's a good deal. Lol.
