Ok.  This is my first child and I dont know how all this "weeks" stuff works.  When I went in for a fetal measure ultrasound when I was 26(nearly 27) weeks I was told by the tech the baby weighed 2 lbs and 11 oz. and depending on the part measured, he was measured 29-30 weeks.  Does this mean I was 29-30 weeks along opposed to the 26 weeks?  To clarify, we are not going by a last menstrual period since I was irrigular and going by a ultrasound done at 6 weeks to get the due date March 23rd.  I havent seen my Doctor yet since this was done(go next week) so i was just wondering what your thoughts were on this.  Thanks!!

Mother to Jaxon Cash, March 23rd.Happy LOL

it's normal for babies to vary in size in the later weeks in pregnancy.  that's why they don't rely on late u/s (i believe past the 12 week one, maybe the 20 week) for dating.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I never relied on ultrasound cause its not that accurate. The babies body does grow like say a 10 year old child. Sometimes the head will grow faster than the legs one week, then the next the legs faster than the arms so the measurements are always different. Weight too .They told me my daughter would be 7 lbs at least when born. She was 5lbs 12 oz

Measuring big doesnt mean a single thing except your baby is growing! :) ultrasound itself can go 2 weeks either way. thats just the measurment for error. It doesn't mean your going to deliver any sooner or that your farther along then you are....although we all wish it did! haha.like the PPer said babies have growth spurt. especially around 26-30 weeks and different pars grow faster at different times. I did an u/s at 29/30 weeks and it said baby was 4 lbs 11oz and that the baby would be almost 9lbs!!! But he evened out a few weeks later and THANK GAWD came out a normal 7lbs 5oz. He was measuring ahead..but caught up just fine. GL!
