Hey ladies my baby is a week old and I really want to stick with this BF thing. She will only nurse from the right breast bcuz my left nipple is inverted so I have been pumping only prob is only about close to two oz come out between both breast is this normal? I bought some fenugreek, does this really help with the milk supply? Thanks!

I found that it helped a lot. It just makes you smell like syrup, so be ready for that. :-)  Check with your doc, though - I think that I heard that some docs are advising against using fenugreek, not sure why. I used it and it seemed to make a difference.  Good luck!!!

It works but if you start gaining weight its the fenugreek. I started taking it in september and by the 1st of November I had gained 8lbs. I didn't understand why since I don't over eat and I exercise. I did more research on the Herbal. I found out that it helps with anorexic and women in other countries that have a hard time gaining weight. I quit taking it after I read all that and I dropped the weight. My milk supply was fine. People like myself research it on the topic of breastmilk but never weight gain.

I read a story of this girl who was anorexic and she was telling how fenagreek helped her gain weight quickly...lol..I felt so dumb for taking that stuff. O'well had a set back at least I found out after a couple of months and not a year:p

Thank you for that info about gaining weight.  My baby is 12 wks. old and I lost my weight right away but I've felt like I've put some of it back on and my pants are tighter than they were a few weeks after delivery.  Maybe that is the reason.  I think I'll quit taking it.  I just have a problem at night and he is just not getting enough so I was hoping it would help.  It really hasn't so I think I'll just stop taking it.

The only side affect I had was the quick weight gain. I have read other peoples comments and it made them hungry and thirsty. They say oatmeal helps. A friend of mine has been breastfeeding for 16 months now and when she feels like she's not producing enough she eats oatmeal and she says it helps.

Here is one of the articles I read.

This is in fenagreek

Trigonella feonumgraecum, a leguminous plant eaten as a vegetable; the seeds are used for flavouring. It is traditionally eaten by women in the Orient to help gain weight.

I've never been able to pump much but can feed my baby.  Pumping and your baby nursing are not the same.  Don't give up because you can't get much out with pumping.  Go by signals from your baby.  Does she have enough wet diapers?  Does she seem satisfied?  Is she gaining weight?  Those are better indicators than pumping.

Thanks ladies! The herb is helping a little, but it seems as when she nurses me she uses my breast as pacifiers and falls straight to sleep. I try to stimulate her by rubbing under neck and that will wake her up for a second and then she right back sleep, I am going to keep on trying though

  THIS.

Pump output is NEVER a good indication of how much you truly make.  Pumps are simply not as efficient as a baby.  Babies use suction and compression to get milk out.  A pump can only use suction.  The amount you are getting is completely normal for a breastfeeding mom.

Do not go by pump output... it will only stress you out.  Is baby having enough wet diapers?  Gaining weight (even if slowly)?

I have been using by the directions on the bottle and it seems to help me a little.  I haven't noticed any weight gain so far and I have been using it for about 8 days now.  I have a question for those who have used it, do you follow the directions on the bottle, or do you take more?  My little girl seems like she would like to get a little more.  We had to suplement with just a little formula, about 20 ml with nursings, because she had lost a little too much weight before my milk really started to come in.  Now it seems like we can't get away from the suplements, specially at night time.  The lactation consultant is the one who told me about it, she also mentioned Mother's tea, but I have not had a chance to find it yet.  Prayingforher, I also have problems with my baby falling alseep while breastfeeding...  about the only thing that helps is getting her down to her diaper, the lactation consultant said she is just too comfy.  Good luck.
