Here are the facts... I have had three healthy pregnancies and births DS1 was born at age 28 DS2 was born at age 30 DS3 was born at age 33 At age 37 I started trying to have another child (DD) I wasted a year or more on 2 failed IUIs and then at 39 I started swaying. I got pregnant accidentally using spermicide (while I was trying to wait out a moon cycle) and miscarried at 6 weeks. The very next month I took clomid and got pregnant again and miscarried at nine weeks. After that miscarriage I moved to IVF and had three cancelled cycles due to cysts and ultimately did two IVF cycles and they both were no transfers. I got 15 eggs and they all were abnormal (8 were tested and 7/8 were maternal chromosomal px and one had both maternal and paternal px) or failed to fertilize. Despite 14 antral follicles on my last cycle I only got 5 mature eggs. The month after my last IVF cycle I got accidentally pregnant (I ovulated a week late) and just miscarried again at nine weeks. I am getting genetic testing I have had my FSH levels taken multiple times and the highest I ever got was 10.3 CCT Day Three, FSH = 9.3 Estradiol = 61 Day Ten, FSH= 8.2 Estradiol = 450 My AMH was 0.64 I have had infectious disease labs and only have the antibiodies for CMV I have had Thyroid panel = within normal limits I have had a hydro examination of uterus = normal I have had a blood panel and the only thing that came out as not normal was Eosinophil ABS Auto (which when I looked up I thought that it had to do with my eczema) but it also can be a result of autoimmune diseases???? I have not had karyotyping (we have three healthy kids), autoimmune, alloimmune, diabetes or endo biopsy (but I took progesterone just in case for this last pregnancy - my luteal phase is usually 14 days). So the obvious answer is egg quality and chromosome problems but if the results of the genetic testing is inconclusive or negative - what if anything should I test? The things that really bother me is that my last two miscarriages I have had the Rhogham shot prior to the loss (I am AB-) and both times my hubby and I DTD on the day or the day before we lost the baby. I know these things are harmless but the last two miscarriages happened the exact same way and at the same time.

Oh, Cynthia, I wish I had answers for you. What you are going through is just so very unfair.

I was wondering about progesterone, but you had that covered this time. You said you are doing genetic testing--does this mean on the baby you just lost? If so, that might give you some answers. Have you had this done any of the other times? I would think that if they all had chromosomal issues, that would point you in a very different direction than if they tested normal. I hope you get clear results that are informative.

I wonder about the Rhogham. My midwife is very opposed to it. She is something of a maverick and very few people would agree with her, but she really does not like that protocol and does not think it is necessary. She says that in a birth that is handled properly, the blood should never mix. But I'm not sure whether there are any options there when you have already had multiple pregnancies and have had Rhogham in the past. I can try to get more information from her if you are interested.

I would not think DTD could be related. If you miscarried because your cervix was weak, perhaps that could be a factor, but that doesn't sound like that has been an issue.

Did either of your REs ever have any answers as to why things went so wrong with your cycles when your pretesting was all good? It seems like they should be able to figure out what is going on.

I'll throw one other thing out there, although I have no reason to think this is relevant to you. I have celiac disease (gluten intolerance), and I know that this can be a cause of infertility and miscarriages when it has not been diagnosed. I have been gluten free since I was two years old, so this was not an issue for me at all, but I know that some people discover they have celiac as a result of having fertility struggles and multiple miscarriages. It might be worth doing some research just to see if you have any sign of a gluten intolerance (or perhaps there are other food intolerances that could do this too).

My last thought is that perhaps a naturopath could help you. I have seen one on and off for the last few years. He uses muscle testing and treats with nutritional supplements and diet changes. I'm always a bit skeptical, but I get good results. I went back this fall because I was having horrible allergies for the first time in my life, and now they are gone. I went in a few days ago with horrible swollen lymph nodes and the worst headache I've ever had, and he gave me some supplements that got rid of it within a few hours. I know they have also helped women with fertility and pregnancy loss issues.

I hope you get some answers soon. I think of you many times every day, and I am praying for you.

I am sorry you are going through all this.  I have three healthy kids too and now multiple (unexplained) losses.  I have to say I would ask your DR to consider putting you on heparin during your first trimester....just to help if there is an undetected clotting issue.  It really has no negative side effects (they test to be sure you aren't getting too much).

I agree that I don't think DTD had anything to do with it so try to let that go.  As far as the Rhogam....probally a fluke, but maybe just skip that next time to rule it out.

God has a way of working things out in His time.  I know from being in similar shoes its so hard to understand when you have 3 already why it is so hard to complete your family.  Keep seeking answers and He will give you the strength and peace you need to keep going....

I Have lost quite a few pregnancies. According to my doctor I had every test they could have tested me for ,including gene mapping of both my husband and I.

THey didn't find anything wrong. He said to go about trying. We have had two healthy boys . We have lost 5 documented pregnancies. But I have also had some pregnancies that were just late periods. SO I started bleeding a week after the positive pregnancy test. Is that a chemical? I never went to the doctor for those.

I do have high hemoglobin. Maybe ask your doctor to be tested for that. I have to take a baby aspirin and I take progesterone pills.

ALthough, if I tried to get pregnant again I would maybe have to be bumped up to more that a baby aspirin cause I miscarried while on the aspirin last time.

My doctor did say there are some levels of antibodies they can't test for also . But the aspirin or injectable should take care of that.

My last M/C didn't even look like a baby. It looked like two blown bubbles. It was really strange. THe doctor said that is common in someone who has a blood clotting disorder.

If nothing else I would take an aspirin. I have several friends who do . One of my friends is RH negative and did take the aspirin with the next pregnancy . SHe delivered a baby six months ago. Not sure if it helped or just coincidence.

Keep us posted.

did they test for FVL?  Its a newer test.  I found out my mc was due to MFL.  They were not looking for anything for me because it was just one mc, but my dad had to go to the er for a blood clot and they tested him.  He came back as a strong carrier and his doc said if you have a daughter you need to tell her she WILL have this because it was Hetro???  or somthing like that.  So my dad called me, I called the doc and got tested. Yup I have FVL

I'm so sorry Cynthia.  Would you travel to SF to see my RE?  Even if you don't want to do IVF- I really loved him.  He did the complete immunology testing on me and it turns out I had the MTHMR gene and a couple of other things that I had to treat.  I did infusions with this pg and took baby asprin and Folgard.  Also, he insisted I have an endo lap done.  I truly feel that if I hadn't done these things, I probably would not have gotten pg.  I hope you figure out what is causing your losses.  My thoughts are with you!

I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I ahve been tested.  WHat does that mean ?

I have always wondered why I don't bleed when I have surgeries. I remember after my last C-section the doctor looked in amazment and said there was hardly any blood. Matter of fact my whole life all doctors have said that,. I really wonder if I will end up with a blood clot or stroke. THis is why I don't take birth control pills.  I guess I could go in and have that test taken. Do you have to do anything health wise when you have it?

My dad has to be on blood thinners the rest of his life.

My doc says when I'm in my 50's I should start daily baby asprin.  I had to did baby asprin when I was pg with ds so I would mc  him.  FvL did cause problems with his cord near the end so I had to have daily ultrasound checks

I did take baby aspirin for most of the pregnancy, i may have skipped a few doses here and there...I was just trying to cover my bases. I will ask about these factors. I have no idea if this has any relation but this recovery from the D&C has been really strange. I bled a normal amount tapering off after about 6 days and then on the 7th day started (TMI warning) pouring out clots tons and tons of clots. I called the doc and he said as long as I am not hemorraging it is ok. I should get my genetic results on Monday.

The baby had Turner's (XO) it was caused by the sperm.  I dont need further genetic testing.  Just random.
