Stripping the membranes.

How effective is this? Has anyone else had it done? How long did it take if it worked for you? They did one today at 38 weeks and I'm wondering if it will work. I have been getting a little tightening and just feel like I have to have a bowel movement. Not really painful but I don't know if that means it's working. I am 1-2 cm right now when they did it. Thanks for anyone who can answer... Hopefully it works and I'll be in having him soon.

 i had my membranes stripped w/ DS1.  i was one day late & 1-2 cm.  they did it at 2pm & he was born at 6:26pm.  it really helped everything move along quickly for us-hope it does the same for you & you'll get to meet your new lil' man soon!

I had mine done at 39 weeks. It didnt do anything for me. I ended up induced a week later....

Had it done with 2 of mine. Had  the babies within in 24hrs of having it done. Was 41+wks and 38+6wks pg. Try a warm bath. Might not work but did for my last baby, got contractions soon after. Someone on here suggested it!

Thanks foall the thoughts and experiences. Unfortunately I'm still here and still pregnant. I feel like if this baby doesn't come soon I'm gonna goo insane! I can't handle being pregnant anymore.... I'm in pain all the time. I just want it over. Thanks again.

 Hey hun, i had mine done at 40+1 and now i'm sitting here at 41 week and nothing at all!! i'm back in the hospital 2 morrow and i should be inducded by wednesday so my fingers are crossed for both of us!! x x

 I had mine stripped 3 times and two of the three was in the same week. I was 3cm when she did it. I ended up going into labor on a Monday morning and she just checked me with no stripping and caused my show strengthening my contractions. I cant say stripping caused my labor but it sure helped me progress. I had my boy at 38 weeks. 

 I had my membranes stripped with my second two kids and it didn't seem to do anything. I hope it works for you, though!! Good luck with everything~ I hope the birth goes well! 

Thanks everyone for the replys... I'm still here my next appt is on wednesday. I really hope I can get her to schedule and induction soon. Not sure if my body even remembers how to go into labor by itself. Good luck to you too Bumpy!!!! I hope everything goes smoothly. It seems like this doesn't really work for too many people anyways...
