There are a few terms we use to describe the angle at which we take the picture.
A classic potty shot is considered a transverse, or cross sectional vew.
A sagittal view is the long view - for example, the profile view on a baby
A coronal view is like a sagittal view, but turn a little bit 90 degrees. When the baby looks at you and you can see the face, and the ribs on either side of the body, that is coronal. This is the view taken for those "girl" pictures.
Then there is oblique - just means it's somewhere between transverse and sagittal. Crooked :)
