I will walk them when they start going to school. We live in a very small town and the school is literally RIGHT up the street. When they're older, they'll walk themselves if I'm comfortable.

i drive them to school, and if weather and if I am in the mood I will walk him home. I wish I lived somewhere where he could take the school bus. He wants it as much as I do. life would be easier if I didn't have to rush to get 4 people out of the door. DS2 would still be taking naps if  DS1 took the bus.

We live too close for the bus, but too far for DD1 to walk to school alone...so for right now I drive or I walk her.  We are 5 blocks away now, I hope we move by next school year into the house that is only 2 blocks away that we really really want.  Then DD1 and DD2 will walk home together, but since DD2 will only be in half day afternoon Kindergarten I'll have to walk or drive her after lunch and I'm not sure if DD1 will walk alone in the morning or not she'll only be in 2nd grade and it still worries me.  If there's other kids that walk I may let her.  But the year after that they will definitely be walking except in bad weather.  From 6th grade on I think they ride a bus.  And unfortunately there's no way my oldest could give the other ones rides to school once she starts driving because of where the schools are located and what times they start and end.

I voted other because on my days off, I take my ds and his friend.  The days I work, his friend's mom takes him.

Too far and dangerous to walk, no buses go there and nobody nearby that we know so car pooling is out!! I wish we could walk or ride though.

I voted other because my grandmother lives 2 doors down from us and she takes my boys to school in the morning because it's on her way to work to drop them off and I pick them up in the afternoon. They go to a private school right now so there is no bus but next year they will be going to public school and there is a bus that picks up right in front of our house but I will still either drive them to school or walk them to school since the school is only a few blocks away. They will not ride the bus ever! I've heard too many scary stories of kids being bullied on the bus.

three+three:

My kids are TOUGH...... they ride the BUS Happy ROFL Just arm them with some weapons in Kindergarten and send them off on the big yellow monster.....they'll be just fine.  Gotta grow up sooner or later.   I'm just kidding of course, about the weapons.  But they do ride the BUS.  I don't have time to be a chauffeur.

Ditto!! Stick out tongue

My girls went to catholic school from k-8 and then to public hs. They thought the bus was the coolest thing since sliced bread!! LOL! They also thought the 'lockers' were so cool! Oh and the fact that they HATED uniforms and love being able to wear what they want. My girls like the bus. They also have a lot of friends in our development so it's social time for them on the bus too. My girls are tough cookies, they can handle their own.Cool

One of us drives them - but let me explain.....

I would love to walk the kids to school, would like the excercise, and it would do the kids good too (although they get plenty) but their school is 3 miles away....and not a good route to walk due to the type of roads we'd have to cross etc...Then there's getting back in time for work etc....

It's a shame, but I don't want them in a more local school - their reports aren't as good, more kids in the school - so teacher/staff to pupil ratio no so good - and both kids are in front compared to where they 'should be' so I like that.  I think their village school makes them bond better with all the other kids, like a large family, everyone knows everyone kinda thing, and it's really nice.  Happy
