Hi Girls,

Really not sure about this one! It all get's very heated & so ethical/moral etc. It's in Newcastle this week too (3 hours on train) & it is Mothers Day & I won't see my boys )-:.... but....

I need to still raise awareness of GD !! I now feel slightly vocational!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The voice of GD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would you do? x

oh wow well I am not sure I would have the guts too after hearing all the stick I once got on a parenting forum for even admitting I wanted a girl thought they were going to kill me or something! But you have the confidence too and have already been on Tv and as you say you want to raise the awareness of GD because it isnt some made up selfish need its actually a real depression/feeling that parents feel every day so I say you should do it if its what you want  Happy shame it lands on Mothers Day though hun as you say you wont be able to see your boys

I'm in the States so I've never seen the program but I was on the debate team in high school and college and following that standard -- a list of topics/questions to be discussed and limited to those -- I'd do it. Without that I wouldn't participate just because I've seen the mess that happens with American talk shows.

On raising awareness, it would be my inclination to tell you to capitalize on the momentum of your documentary and approach a publisher about authoring or co-authoring a book. And after the book is on the shelves go on talk shows which would have the benefit of raising awareness and selling your book. But I'm a dirty American Capitalist so there you have it! Happy Giggle

Taking an IG break

My best wishes to all TTC and congrats to all that get their babies

Wow!!!! Congratulations for being asked. It's great that another show wants to talk about GD. It's a tricky one. On one hand I think you should definitely do it. You were marvellous on cutting edge and I think you will really be giving all us ladies with GD some much needed publicity to help others understand how we feel...... but on the other hand that show is quite harsh and because it's a debate you will have all sorts of comments and questions thrown at you - some of which I would imagine might not be ever so nice :( Maybe all us UK IG ladies can sit in the audience with you! Lol! If you think you can handle it, do it! You're like our spokeswoman now :)
Baby Boy Baby Boy (my 0+12 opposite!) Love my boys so much...... so why is something still missing?

You know, my gut instinct is no.

Let's face it, you will be in the direct firing line and I doubt you will have much support (sadly).  However, you seem like a very strong women who could debate your points across successfully.

I just know that when dealing with GD it is not something that the majority of the population will sympathize with.  If you do decide to go for it, I wish you the very best of luck.  Be prepared for all sorts of questions.

I agree with Flapper - it is a fast talking, straight shooting show.  You will be playing with the big guns who will most likely want to see you sink on this.

hi there, i can understand why you're not sure! its a tough one, they could turn it round on you about deserting your boys on mothers day?!!  i'm concerned you could be that lamb to slaughter so to speak? who else will be there on the other end of the spectrum? the UK press and public can be so hard.

you have come across as a smart and articulate woman and i have much respect for you and what you've done so far and will be cheering you on if you do, but i'm interested to know your drive to raise awareness of GD? how will it benefit you and your family directly? for me to do anything that has any risk of negativity and upset to me or my family I wouldn't do it. imo GD is another one of those things you won't understand unless you're in the situation, so a discussion with people who don't have that experience will be hard. will they pay you? will it cover some of the costs towards HT???

You are really lovely and I would hate to see you "attacked".  It is so admirable of you to speak out about GD, you are amazing - and many of us couldn't/wouldn't do it, for so many different reasons.

There will always be people who agree with you, and people who are against it.

Anyone who has not experienced GD first hand will probably not get it.  But still, raising the awareness is so important.

Either way, you have the support of us IG girls.

Good luck Pinktastic!!!!!

......I agree with Lillylolly.  If you do decide to go for it prepare yourself for a grilling and alot of unsympathising 'Joe Public', you are a strong lady and I admire your courage to bring GD to the lime light, unfortunately, the majority people in the UK are of the opinion that you 'have to be thankful for what you've got' which is why Gender Selection is not legal.
