What is your favorite ways to get comfortable while feeding? Do you have a body pillow or a chair? I remember using a cheap rocking chair with my DD, but it squeeked which irritated me when trying to feed her...but I still used it because it did seem a lot more comfortable, especially in the night. The other thing I used when I fed her was her boppy pillow around my waist with her laying on top of it...I would change her position according to feed on top of the boppy pillow.

I was looking at the pregnancy pillow, and it looks kinda comfortable when breastfeeding, does it help? I might be able to sit up with it on my bed to breastfeed... I really don't know how it'd sit like this as I don't have one or how comfortable it is for mom though?

Or do you have a type of chair you'd recommend, a certain type of glider? I have a huge rocking chair by my computer, but quite frankly- It sucks. It gives me horrible back support, it's bulky, it's hard, the bottom is busted and has a hole in it. I need a new chair, and if I'm going to get one I might as well get me one that I could use comfortably when BF too, right? Obviously I wouldn't want a HUGE overly large one, because my hubby sits next to me and space isn't that good in this area, but yeah... Or maybe just a seperate chair to use over in the kids' side of the room, or something. It's so important to be comfortable when up in the middle of the night or when feeding all in all and I could really use some advice on what you guys all enjoyed the most when BF. If I get a chair for BF I'd probably need one that could hold the weight of me with my DD and the baby (I'm sure I could get us all comfortable if she really needs to sit next to me when I'm BF. Stick out tongue)

Oh help! LOL. I've already asked loads of questions in the cloth diaper forum, and finally figured out MOST of what I'm going to do as far as that, but now I'm thinking BF and want to get all my lists of needs prepared for that. Stick out tongue Bare with me!

Honestly, my favorite nursing position is laying down, with my body curled around my baby. Not always practical, though. A Boppy pillow works great for support while feeding the baby sitting up. I used to have a rocking chair, but it wasn't a very nice one. I've always wanted a glider.

I am most comfortable nursing in the cradle hold (like the photo you included) in a comfy arm chair or lying down on my side with my arm under the baby's head and wrapped around holding his/her back. With the boys I used a recliner with nice padded arms. For A I got a glider with a rocking ottoman for the first time, and I really like that too. We got it used on craigslist so it wasn't very expensive. The most important thing for me is the height of the arms being right and the arms being padded. I use a nursing pillow in the very early days, but a Boppy never was the right height for me. I liked the My Brest Friend (terrible name, but a good product). I have a body pillow that I bought when I was pregnant, but I never tried using it for nursing. I think it would be a hassle to get it situated the way you want it. A sofa with padded arms is really good for nursing while sitting next to a toddler. I spent a lot of time nursing J while reading books to R on the sofa. I would sit on the side of the sofa that worked to have my arm on a sofa arm on the side the baby was on.

One thing I don't like about my glider is that while the arms are nicely padded, the front of the arms has exposed wood. A has ended up banging her head on the wood several times if she gets fussy or if she just moves in a way I wasn't expecting. It would be ideal to have the chair arms be completely padded including the front, but most that I have seen have the exposed wood on the front of the arm.

Yeah, the boppy pillow was amazing to help hold her up when we were sitting up...but I need back support or my back is going to start feeling like it's going to break in half (like it always does anyways). I just remember it taking about 30 minutes or so of feeding straight (not that THAT bothered me) for Monster and after 30 minutes of trying to stay sitting that it started hurting. I do enjoy the laying down position too...I remember that quite often many nights with Ahyla when my eyes wouldn't stay open LOL.

My favorite position was always sitting on the couch, normally with a pillow behind my back, and holding the baby on a Boppy.  Super easy & comfortable!

I had terrible neck and shoulder pain when my boys were little, and I think a lot of it was caused by being sort of hunched over while nursing them, combined with carrying them around all the time. It has been a lot better this time, and I think my chiropractor deserves the credit for that. I had not started seeing her when the boys were little. This time I just go get an adjustment every time it starts to get bad, and it really takes care of it. I agree good back support is really important, but if you are in pain even with back support, you might want to consider trying a chiropractor.

I figured out I was hunching myself over and pulling my breast to baby instead of bringing baby to me...also I think it has to do with having to support a newborn so much with their weak neck muscles and them being so wobbly...it always seems to get better as they get bigger/stronger.  My fave place to nurse was big fluffy recliner...it rocked and reclined and it had big puffy arm rests...I'd put a big pillow under my arm/under baby for support...can't tell you how many times I woke up in the chair in the morning with baby sleeping on the pillow and my boob hanging out for all who woke up first to see, lol!

Right now I am glued to the couch. I even sleep there. I can't BF in bed b/c only the head is by the wall and I am afraid I would fall asleep while bfing and drop the baby. DH takes up too much space in bed and I am afraid he would sleep on the baby or something. I just use pillows to prop her. I have a boppy but that doesn't bring her up high enough....maybe it's my relatively small bb's and long torso combo....LOL

A lot of times we doze off on the couch. I always make sure I am wedged to the side so she won't fall in the crack, and I make sure  no blankets are around, and that I am relatively upright, and she is pretty much on her back when nursing. If I am not nursing she sleeps in the bassinet next to me or the swing.
