Has anyone seen this article: http://geneticsandsociety.org/article.php?id=3531 (You may need to copy and paste - don't know how to do links, sorry.) It says: "Lily Nguyen, product manager for Tell Me Pink or Blue at Consumer Genetics in Sunnyvale, Calif., says nearly 2,000 pregnant women have taken the test since its launch in May 2006. About 30 - including Sodano - have received refunds for a wrong answer. Nguyen speculates that Sodano's result was incorrect because her blood sample was contaminated with her husband's or sons' DNA, although Sodano says she was careful to avoid that." Almost all of those women with wrong results must have posted on Ingender then - or do you think there are more than she claims?

I know for a fact that Sodano did not contaminate any sample!  And as a matter of fact when she asked them if there was a possibility if she could have contaminated it they said "no...definite boy results and no contamination was detected".  So this just goes to show that they do NOT have their act together!

And...big deal if people get their money back...they are still wrong A LOT and that is not acceptable!  It really is very trying on a woman who has her heart set on the test being valid.  I was one of those women.  I took the test hoping to hear a correct result and instead, I got a run around for a few weeks and then really poor explanation of what actually happened with my sample!  So....I don't trust that test or the people there....they all cover for one another!

And...yes I do think there are more then they claim because there is a definite population out there who care if the test was really right...those who suffer from GD and then there is a percentage of people out there who take the test "for fun" and really are not getting their heart set on it being right.  If they find out it is wrong, they might not do anything about it....just complain to others around them or forget about it in general...so I really, really doubt their claims are accurate!

I'm not too sure about those results as  i've gone through all the posts i could find on here relating to this test an found out of 25 people told boys 15 had girls at u/s and out of 9 of us told girl 7 had boys at u/s so i wouldn't think that we're the only 21 people wi wrong results .... i am so disheartened wi this test I've currently been told on three different occassions wi 2 different blood samples i'm having a girl by them but 2 u's have confirmed boy .....

It seems unlikely to me that almost all of the people with wrong results have posted on this website. There must be others out there who don't know about Ingender - or as JoJogirl says, took the test for a bit of fun and weren't too concerned if the results were wrong. I was told boy by Tell Me PInk or Blue (I have two boys already). I don't know for sure if they're right yet - I have an ultrasound this week but have caused myself so much stress from taking this test that I may wait until birth to find out the sex for sure! Also, I had a look at the website of DNA Worldwide again today (the British arm of Consumer Genetics - they send the tests to the lab in the USA). Interestingly, they are now saying that you need to be 7 weeks from conception, or 10 weeks from the first day of your last period when you take the test. When I took the test at the end of June, they were saying you had to be 6 weeks from conception, or 8 weeks from the first day of your last period. That means, that according to their website, I took the test too early at 8 weeks from the first day of my last period and the test is invalid. But nobody has contacted me to tell me that...

Sorry you are stressed!  I was too.  I always questioned wether or not the test was right!  I know my gut was saying it was wrong...but I figured it was a bloodtest...how could it be wrong??  But it was!  So I say, hang in there and if you can wait to find out, then that would be great!  No matter, you will love your baby and everything will be ok when you see her/his face!  Did you sway?

Bex2boys .....

I am also from the uk and got the test thro dna worldwide and i've now noticed on their infomation they've changed alot of it and also sy that if you would be dissapointed in a wrong result not to take the test so I'm thinkibng that's not a great advert for it's accuracy .... i am so sorry that ur in this situation too it renminds me of myself doing all this research as I waited for my scan ..... They told me girl at 15 weeks and again at 20 weeks so I think if they can't get it right at 20 weeks then there's defo somethin wrong ..... I really hope u get the result ur wantin please let us know after ur scan when is it ???? xxxxx

The problem is that you cannot base an accuracy rate on the number of refunds, because this is not a controlled result.  It does not account for the number of incorrect tests that did not request, or did not receive, a refund.  Perhaps that number is zero and TMPOB is highly accurate, but we just don't know; but  saying that only 30 refunds = only 30 wrong is not correct unless you follow up with each case.

I fully agree maureen .... I think that looking at the amount of people on here wi incorrect results we can't just be that 4.6% they get wrong as mopst of us have bought the test sent it bck and then started researchin the findings before we get our results and it leads us here even before we have our results ...... I think it hould be banned auntil this can really be proven to work as it really causes a lot of distressed even when they keep sticking to their original result even after uv had an u's and telling u that they too can be wrong xxxx

I also think that, horrible though it is, many women will abort their babies if the result comes back with the undesired sex. They will never find out if Pink or Blue gave them the correct result - and so will never ask for a refund or appear in the statistics of those with the wrong result. Dazie - not sure if I'm going to find out the sex at my scan on Thursday. I think not knowing for sure will get me through the next 20 weeks - when I give birth to the baby and see it's a boy, I won't mind - I'll love him anyway, but if I find out now I will be bitterly disappointed. If I change my mind and find out I'll let you all know!

Bex,

The way i look at it is that u now have a chance of gettin ur girl if they said boy because by the looks of things they seem to tell almost everyone the opposite of what the actually have so I would definitely hold out some hope .... i know what u mean about finding out now and how it would disappoint u .... i think because u can't see your baby and hold it that it doesbn't seem real well that's how it was when I found out .... I also was in denial from the scan at 20 weeks because she ttold me the sex from a profile view and I was so convinced that it could have been the cord but agaibn another scan on fri proved it was all boy .... I really do hope u get ur daughter and maybe finding out now will help u come to terms wi it if it is another boy and give u time to think before he's born but I really think u could get ur dd xxxxxx

Hi Dazie Thanks for your message. I hope you're right but I've got a feeling that I'm going to be one of the few people on this site that gets the right results from Pink or Blue! I know what you mean about the ultrasound, I was like that with my second boy - was so convinced he was a girl as felt so different with my second pregnancy - denied that what I could see was his willy! I'm really sorry that you got the wrong results from P or B - in a way it's worse to be told what you want, then find out it's wrong. I've read your previous posts and I think the way they've mucked you about is awful. I wish everyone who'd used the test would post their results on here. I tried to find out how many wrong results DNA worldwide had had but they refused to tell me. I may still find out the sex of my baby for sure on Thurs - just can't decide... Bex xx

Yeah I've emailed them about that too and surprise surprise they haven't emailed me back typical isn't it .... Yeah my second pregnancy was so different too I was convinced it was a girl no sickness nothing and this one was just like my first all the sickness headaches etc so I don't even think that a different pregnancy means different sex .... whatever is planned for us is what we'll get I think ..... I'll be on tenderhooks till thurs to see what u decide .... what times ur scan ????
