My friend had a baby girl today. This is her first baby. I was soo happy for her until I read the comments on her Facebook page. " Aww You are so lucky to have a girl" and stuff like " You just love having a baby when its a girl". Its like people dont love having a baby if its a boy. How can people be so ignorant?

I *completely* understand. Same situation for me on facebook yesterday - a friend found out she was having a girl and all the comments on her status were SO SO SO gender-specific-positive-for-girls. I cringed when I read them.

I saw a similar comment the other day in facebook as well and this was from someone who has a boy also. Such comments used to bother me when I was pregnant but not anymore. Now it is like 'Whatever!!!'

I just cant wait for all these kids to grow and see who becomes what. Who is lucky and who is not Happy

I know it is annoying but try and not let these comments get to u and ruin your beautiful day. Flower

Bless you, I know it is so hard when a friend or family member announce 'it's a girl'.

Try not to read the Facebook comments cos if you are anything like me, you will be super sensitive anyway ! I agree that society sometimes seem to favour girls, certainly where I am from.

People just seem to feel sorry for me. As someone who doesn't have or is not expecting a girl, I totally understand how you are feeling.

It is so hard but most of us do understand xx

I promise you there are plenty of boy Facebook comments that I read all of the time! Boys are so fun, Boys love their mommies, I couldn't imagine not having my boys, etc. etc. I think we are apt to notice things that we don't have. I am sure we can all agree that the comment, "Oh you have one of each, how PERFECT!" is so utterly annoying on Facebook!!!

So True!!!!  I revel in the girl ones, sigh whistfully with the boy ones and cringe outwardly with the "oh the pigeon pair.. nothing is more perfect than that!" comments...   my personal favourite is when someone says that in front of me (which is often!!) while I am sitting with my 3 pretty damn perfect girls.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Thank you so much for understanding. Its hard talking to ppl IRL abt these feelings becoz they jst dont understand! I love my friend as she is the most sweetest person and am genuinely happy that she has a girl. It just other ppl who make gender related comments that get to me.

Man, I seriously must live in another world. Everone around me and that I have ever experienced go on and on about have a boy. Maybe when you have GD you suddenly JUST notice those comments or get paranoid or something. You are not the first person who has said this on here about people going on and on about girls yet I have girls and all I hear about is how blessed on is who has boys!

How can people be so ignorant?

I always just assume that people who make such comments must not have any boys themselves - they do not know the joy of a boy. If they do have boys themselves then that's a pretty crap statement to make - I could never say that about my boys - they are delightful as babies. There is nothing better then a big fat drooly smile from a chubby baby boy - melts me more then little girls for some reason.
