How long...

After stopping breastfeeding can you cycle?  I know you are supposed to have 2 AFs before the testing, and then you have to do the testing before you cycle...so how long does all this take?  I am just trying to figure out the timeline...

 This is my 3rd baby so I should know this, but I can't remember how long it takes to get your AF when you stop nursing...and then it would just be a month to get your 2nd AF right?  So does it just take a month before you can do the testing? 

I know these are dumb questions but I am trying to plan when we can cycle and I am wanting to continue bf through the winter "flu" months if possible and still cycle by next spring/summer.

You get AF, get AF again, do testing, AF, cycle. So if you have to do BCP the month before, you are looking at around 3 months or so, maybe 4.

...also, you need to be at least 6 months post-partum (I believe).

Personally, I would wait AT LEAST that long.....IVF and all the meds take a toll on your body.

My baby is already 7 months and will be a year old by the time I cycle. I just want to continue bf as long as possible to keep him healthy this winter and was trying to figure out how long between weaning and cycling. Sounds like 3-4 months...is that everyone's experience?

OP - I quite bfing end of April, and cycled end of August.
