I have just been sent a letter from my doctors requesting I go get it on the 24th November with my 2 sons. I really dont know what to do plus I still have this nasty chest infection so not sure if it will make it worse or not. I have just been googling looking for risks and side effects and cant really see much in the way of horror storys but saying that its not had much time to really!!!! I need some help and fast girls

I got one finally. I finally decided the risks from the flu outweighed the potential risks from the flu shot....I also figured it was the best way to protect my newborn as I will be in contact with her the most. What post really changed my mind, I think it was Charlie Cat's titled, My thoughts on the swine flu vaccine from a non-vaccinator...something along those lines.
Mine was an inacivated flu shot-not live, and the only thing I noticed was a sore arm where I got the shot, That was gone the next day. I also recieved the reg. flu shot (usually don't) had no problems there.
check out the CDC's website at http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu or http://www.cdc.gov/flu
Honestly, I feel much more at ease....The only thing I can find about delaying the shot is is you are moderately to severely ill, you might be advised to wait until you recover before getting the vaccine. If you have a mild cold or illness, there is usually no need to wait. -this is from my handout after the shot.......GL
I have 2 kids in school and also a 3 and 2 yr old. I would like the shots for them, but Dh is still on the fence. I think they would do ok with the swine flu -I just feel better knowing the most vulnerable of us are protected better. I think immunity starts 10 days after getting the vaccine.

I got it, as well as my 2 sons. I'm really not into these things either, but my husband travels for work a lot, and I just felt better knowing we were protected from a widespread flu that may or may not hurt my unborn baby. I felt it was the most responsible thing to do for our family. I read about any potential side effects, and considering it was a dead vaccine, I felt secure in having it as well as in giving it to my kids. We had zero side effects from it. I do sleep better at night knowing we are protected from this flu, and can focus my worry on other things instead!

I got it as well as all my kids...the two littel ones got it in their legs...no complaints from them...myself and the other kids had sore arms for a couple of days...for the most part it felt like someone had punched me in the arm there and that I had been lifting wieghts all day with that arm...other than that it hurt when i lifted my arm up high...but nothing to horrible!!! I could lay on it to sleep if I layed the right way...it wasn't so bad!!! My dr said she has only seen two reactions in all the shots she had given...one was a large red circle around the injection site and the other one a guy passed out when getting the needle, but he always passes out at needles if he looks at them so she figured he must have looked at it!!

Yep I got it about 3 weeks ago. No side effects at all. Perfectly fine. My Hubby got it and had no side effects either. My DS who is 2 couldn;t get it because he has a severe allergy to eggs, so it's too risky for him to get it, it could throw him into anaphalactic shock. So no flu shot regular or swine for him.

It's crazy how much hype this shot has received! Their is this other website I'm on and I have gotten lots of crap since I DID get the regular flu shot AND the h1n1 shot. People who are against the shot are so against it that they feel the need to try to convert those who want to get it (at least in my experience). My doctor is pretty relaxed so if she tells me she thinks I should get something I just go for it. I say go w/your gut. If you feel comfy getting it then go for it If you are questioning it big time then just pass

Me too! My nurse was awesome, and I didn't even get a sore arm except for direct pressure right after the shot. If you can, try to get the preservative free version. They didn't have that for me, but I took it anyway.

I chose not to get it, it's still too new for my comfort.

I got mine. My dr is really pushing it since he's had some pg ladies in the ICU with swine. However, my dr didn't have it yet so I got it through a relative who works at one if the manufacturers. (my kids have not been able to get it yet) I will warn you that I was starting to get a cold when I got the shot and I'm still sick after 2 weeks, I suspect that my body gas been just trying to do too many things are once and so it's dragged out. I knew this was a possibility and I chose to get my shot anyway, bit just wanted to let you know.

Can you? I would if you can. (assuming they don't think they'll run out, you'll deliver first, etc) Good luck!
